Table saw

Abstract

A table saw including a base, a main table supported by the base, first and second rails attached to the table, a sliding table fixedly attached to the rails and sliding along the longitudinal axis of the rails and a cross-cut table slidably movable in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rails. The cross-cut table may be adjusted to ensure movement parallel to a blade protruding from the main table. An improved miter gauge assembly is also disclosed. An improved fence assembly is further disclosed herein. In addition, a table saw having an improved panel and leg construction is disclosed herein.

       26 . A table saw comprising: 
 a base;    a table supported by the base, the table having a workpiece supporting surface;    a blade extendable through the table and above the workpiece supporting surface;    a rail connected to at least one of the base and table, the rail being below the workpiece supporting surface and having indicia on a top, surface thereof;    a fence assembly supported by the rail, comprising:    a fence beam; and    a fence head connected to the fence beam and disposable on the rail, the fence head comprising: 
 a main body disposable on the rail and having a hole allowing the indicia to be seen therethrough;  
 a rod having two ends and rotatably connected to the main body;  
 a first cam disposed at one end of the rod;  
 a second cam disposed at the other end of the rod;  
 a handle connected to the rod, where movement of the handle causes rotation of the cams;  
 a first movable plate contacting the first cam, the first movable plate being movable between a first position contacting the rail and a second position not contacting the rail, and  
 a second movable plate contacting the second cam, the second movable plate being movable between a first position contacting the rail and a second position not contacting the rail;  
 wherein the first and second movable plates are separate;  
 the fence head being coplanar with or below the workpiece supporting surface when disposed on the rail, allowing a workpiece to move past the fence head and rail when the workpiece moved towards the blade.

The table saw of  claim 26 , the fence assembly further comprising a window assembly disposed on the fence head for showing position of the fence assembly relative to the rail, the window assembly comprising a main body having a transparent portion, the main body being substantially disposed in the hole, and a line disposed on the main body being separate and parallel to centerline of the transparent portion.  
   
   
       48 . The table saw of  claim 47 , wherein the window assembly is movable relative to the fence head.  
   
   
       49 . The table saw of  claim 47 , wherein the window assembly is substantially symmetrical.  
   
   
       50 . The table saw of  claim 47 , wherein the window assembly is substantially symmetrical about an axis substantially perpendicular to the line.  
   
   
       51 . The table saw of  claim 47 , wherein the window assembly can disposed on the fence head when rotated 180°.  
   
   
       52 . The table saw of  claim 26 , the fence assembly further comprising a window assembly disposed on the fence head for showing position of the fence assembly relative to the rail, the window assembly being movable towards the rail for accurate reading of the position.
