Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A disc saw felling head comprising:
an upper portion including a main weldment; a disc saw blade rotatably mounted to the main weldment below the main weldment, the disc saw blade having teeth exposed at a forward cutting zone of the head; a housing defining a space below the upper portion in which the teeth of the saw blade are at least partially contained rearward of the cutting zone of the head; wherein the housing has a top wall that is part of the main weldment and sidewalls that are attached to the main weldment by removable fasteners.
. The improvement of claim 1 , wherein the main weldment has a flange to which the sidewalls are fastened.
. The improvement of claim 2 , wherein said flange is above said disc saw blade.
. The improvement of 1 , wherein a replaceable liner is provided between said sidewalls and said blade.
. The improvement of claim 4 , wherein said liner is clamped against said upper portion of said head.
. The improvement of claim 4 , wherein said liner is captured in a groove of said housing.
. The improvement of claim 1 , wherein said housing includes a lower blade guard which extends radially inwardly below said teeth of said disc saw blade.
. The improvement of claim 7 wherein said sidewalls are welded to said lower blade guard.
. The improvement of claim 8 , wherein a replaceable liner is supported by said lower blade guard.
. The improvement of claim 9 , wherein said liner is received in a groove of said lower blade guard.
. The improvement of claim 10 , wherein said liner is also received in a groove of said upper portion of said head.
. The improvement of claim 8 , wherein said liner is clamped between said lower blade guard and said upper portion of said head, radially outward of said disc saw blade.
. The improvement of claim 12 , wherein said liner is clamped by the tightening of the fasteners which attach the sidewalls to the upper portion of the head.
. The improvement of claim 1 , wherein skis are provided beneath said housing.
. The improvement of claim 14 , wherein said skis are integral with said sidewalls.
. The improvement of claim 1 , wherein said side walls are one piece.
. The improvement of claim 1 , wherein said sidewalls are provided with at least one hole through which the degree of wear of a wear liner inside of the housing can be determined.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
