Woven articles from synthetic self twisted yarns

Abstract

A woven panel is formed from a plurality of elongated yarns, with and without a center core. The core yarns provide mechanical strength for the woven material in supporting the coreless yarns when used in load bearing articles such as the seat or back portions of an article of furniture.

1 . An article of furniture comprising: 
 a frame having the shape of an article of furniture, a woven panel attached to said frame, said woven panel comprising a plurality of polymer yarns woven together, at least one of said yarns comprising:    an elongated body of polymer material, and at least one node protruding outwardly from said body and extending substantially in a longitudinal direction along at least a portion of the length thereof.    
   
   
       2 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein said node has an irregular cross-sectional shape.  
   
   
       3 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein the cross-sectional size of said node is smaller than the cross-sectional size of said body.  
   
   
       4 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , further including another node protruding from said body extending substantially in a longitudinal direction along at least a portion of the length thereof spaced from the other node.  
   
   
       5 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of said body and said node includes a groove extending in a substantially longitudinal direction thereof.  
   
   
       6 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of said body and said node includes a representation of a stripe extending in a substantially longitudinal direction thereof.  
   
   
       7 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein said body and said node are formed of foamed polymer material.  
   
   
       8 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein a plurality of said yarns comprise self-twisted yarns.  
   
   
       9 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein at least two of said yarns are twisted together over their length to form a composite twisted yarn.  
   
   
       10 . The article of furniture of  claim 1 , wherein said frame includes a a seat portion and a backrest portion.  
   
   
       11 . The article of furniture of  claim 10 , wherein said woven panel is attached to said seat portion and said backrest portion.
