Abstract

The present invention provides a monoclonal antibody capable of binding to a protein which is specifically recognized by monoclonal antibody 5c8 produced by the hybridoma having ATCC Accession No. HB 10916. This invention also provides compositions comprising the antibody, and hybridomas that produce the antibody. This invention also provides an isolated protein which is specifically recognized by monoclonal antibody 5c8 produced by the hybridoma having ATCC Accession No. HB 10916.

145 . A method of inhibiting autoimmune responses in an animal suffering from an idiopathic autoimmune disease selected from the group consisting of:
psoriasis and hyper IgE syndrome; comprising, administering to the animal an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition which comprises a monoclonal antibody capable of binding to a protein which is specifically recognized by monoclonal antibody 5c8 produced by the hybridoma having ATCC Accession No. HB-10916; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

146 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the animal is a mammal.

147 . The method of claim 146 , wherein the mammal is a mouse.

148 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the idiopathic autoimmune disease is psoriasis.

149 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the idiopathic autoimmune disease is hyper IgE syndrome.

150 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the antibody is a murine monoclonal antibody.

151 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the monoclonal antibody is a chimeric antibody.

152 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the monoclonal antibody is a humanized antibody.

153 . The method of claim 145 , wherein the monoclonal antibody is monoclonal antibody 5c8 produced by the hybridoma having ATCC Accession No. HB 10916.

154 . A method of inhibiting autoimmune responses in an animal suffering from an idiopathic autoimmune disease selected from the group consisting of:
psoriasis and hyper IgE syndrome; comprising, administering to the animal an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition which comprises a soluble protein which is specifically recognized by monoclonal antibody 5c8 produced by the hybridoma having ATCC Accession No. HB 10916; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

155 . The method of claim 154 , wherein the animal is a mammal.

156 . The method of claim 155 , wherein the mammal is a mouse.

157 . The method of claim 154 , wherein the idiopathic autoimmune disease is psoriasis.

158 . The method of claim 154 , wherein the idiopathic autoimmune disease is hyper IgE syndrome.
