Abstract

A rocking chair includes a base, an elastic member, a seat, and a back joined to the seat; the elastic member connected to the base at a lower end thereof, and it is made in such a way as to be capable of rocking in any desired direction; the seat is connected to an upper end of the elastic member such that it can rock together with the elastic member while the base is still; the seat further can turn on the elastic member; the base has a rear extension portion, which is right under the back such that the chair will be steady when the seat is rocking.

1 . An improvement on a rocking chair, comprising 
 a base having a connecting portion;    an elastic member connected to the connecting portion of the base at a lower end thereof so as to be capable of being rocked in selected ones of various directions;    a seat connected to an upper end of the elastic member so as to be capable of rocking together with the elastic member while the seat is still; the seat being capable of turning on the elastic member; and    a back connected to the seat;    the connecting portion of the base, to which the elastic member is connected, being in such a position that the chair will be steady when the seat is rocking.    
   
   
       2 . The rocking chair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the elastic member is formed with a plurality of spaced apart locating cavities near to an edge thereon, and it is formed with two stopping protrusions respectively next to leftmost and rightmost ones of the locating cavities while the seat has a locating unit on a lower side, which includes a pin, and a spring connected to the pin for making the pin downwards stick out from the locating unit and into a selected one of the locating cavities of the elastic member; the locating unit being going to hit the stopping protrusions during a rotational movement of the seat.  
   
   
       3 . The rocking chair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the base has a rear extension portion, which is behind the connecting portion and under the back.
