. The formulation of claim 27 , wherein the carrier can dissolve in response to an aqueous environment.

. The formulation of claim 27 , wherein the carrier can dissolve in an in vivo environment.

. The formulation of claim 27 , wherein the carrier can dissolve in response to an in vivo aqueous environment.

. The formulation of claim 27 , wherein the carrier can dissolve in an oral cavity.

. The formulation of claim 27 , provided as a popsicle comprising a flavoring.

. A method of treating mucositis comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a drug formulation for uptake into the oral cavity comprising:
 a) L-glutamine; and b) a solid or semisolid carrier that is dissolved by surrounding fluids in a mouth.

. A method of treating oral inflammation comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a drug formulation for uptake into the oral cavity comprising:
 a) L-glutamine; and b) a solid or semisolid carrier that is dissolved by surrounding fluids in a mouth.

. The method of claim 44 , wherein the carrier is ingestible or chewable.

. The method of claim 44 , wherein the formulation farther comprises a flavoring or an antiseptic.
