Abstract

A method and a device are disclosed for the production of a bore with a special shape, for example a bore which deviates from a cylindrical shape or a bore with an undercut. First, a first bore portion is produced using an oscillatingly driven tool, the first bore portion having a shape deviating from a cylinder and having at least one projection projecting from the wall face of the first bore portion towards the bore centre. Subsequently, when a bore with an undercut is to be produced, the tool is then at least partially rotated about its longitudinal axis, in order to produce a second bore portion which has a larger cross section than the first bore portion.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A tool for producing bores having a shape deviating from a cylinder, said tool comprising:
a shank having a first end and a second end, said first end being configured for chucking to an oscillatory drive; a cutting head located at said second end and having at least one projection radially protruding from said shank; and a cutting means provided on said cutting head.

2 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein said cutting head comprises at least two projections being arranged at equal angular intervals in relation to one another, depressions being formed between adjacent projections.

3 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein said cutting means is selected from the group formed by an abrasive cutting means and a cutting tooth.

4 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein said cutting means is located on at least one end face of said at least one projection.

5 . The tool claim 3 , wherein said cutting means comprises at least one cutting means selected from the group formed by a diamond cutting means, a boron carbide cutting means, and a corundum cutting means.

6 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein said at least one projection has at least one outer surface having substantially the shape of a partial arc of a circle.

7 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein said cutting head comprises at three projections being arranged at equal angular intervals in relation to one another, depressions being formed between adjacent projections, each of said projections comprising a radially outwardly protruding surface comprising an abrasive cutting means.

8 . The tool of claim 7 , wherein each of said projections comprises a cutting means provided on an end surface of said projection facing away from said shank.

9 . The tool of claim 7 , wherein each of said projections has at least one outer surface having substantially the shape of a partial arc of a circle.

10 . The tool claim 7 , wherein said cutting means is selected from the group formed by a diamond cutting means, a boron carbide cutting means, and a corundum cutting means.

11 . The tool of claim 10 , wherein each of said projections comprises a cutting means provided on an end surface of said projection facing away from said shank.

12 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising a drill attachment which is aligned with a central axis of said shank.

13 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein said cutting means is designed as a cutting means selected from the group formed by a rock cutting means and a wood cutting means.

14 . A kit for producing bores having a shape deviating from a cylinder, said kit comprising:
a drill; and a tool; wherein said tool comprises a shank having a first end and a second end, said first end being configured for chucking to an oscillatory drive; a cutting head located at said second end and having at least one projection radially protruding from said shank; and a cutting means provided on said cutting head.

15 . A method for producing a bore, comprising the following step:
 (a) producing a first bore portion using an oscillatingly driven tool, said first bore portion having a shape deviating from a cylinder and having at least one projection projecting from a wall face of said first bore portion towards a centre of said bore.

16 . The method of claim 15 , in which, after a desired bore depth is reached, a second step is carried out:
 (b) rotating the tool at least partially about its longitudinal axis for producing a second bore portion having a cross section being larger than a cross section of said first bore portion.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein, in step (b), the tool is rotated by a method selected from the group formed by rotating by hand, driving in rotation and driving intermittently with a preferred direction.

18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein a pre-bore is first made before performing step (a).

       19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein a pre-bore is made during step (a).

20 . The method of claim 15 , wherein a tool is used for producing the bore comprising:
a shank having a first end and a second end, said first end being configured for chucking to an oscillatory drive; a cutting head located at said second end and having at least one projection radially protruding from said shank; and a cutting means provided on said cutting head.
