Atraumatic medical retrieval device

Abstract

Baskets with atraumatic distal tips allow the capture of material from difficult-to-reach areas of the body, while reducing the risk of tissue damage.

1 . A medical retrieval device, comprising: 
 a sheath having a proximal end and a distal end;    a handle at the proximal end of the shaft; and    a basket for removing material from a body, the basket having a collapsed position where the basket is enclosed within the sheath and an expanded position where the basket extends from the distal end of the sheath, the basket comprising three or more legs, at least a distal end portion of the basket being defined by a shape which comprises a single continuous unit.
