Abstract

A stand for the spaced suspension of multiple heavy boxing bags for use in training boxers has a centrally disposed, vertically extending stanchion of steel pipe upon which is fixedly attached a horizontally extending support rack. The rack is square steel tubing forming a polygonal perimeter having a support for an individual bag at each corner of the polygon. Radial supports extend outward from a centrally located vertical support attached at the upper end of the vertical stanchion, the radial supports supporting the polygonal perimeter. A pair of upper horizontal and upper angled lower radial supports are spaced along and extend from the centrally located vertical support to join at each individual bag support. Boxing bags may be of the same size or of varying sizes as desired. The inventive stand may also be used as a support for a plurality of water bags for a military installation.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of radial perimeter support members attach to an equal number of said respective bag support brackets.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 2 , wherein said plurality of radial perimeter support members include a plurality of horizontally extending upper radial perimeter support members having inner end portions attached to said inner frame support body and outer end portions attached to said respective bag support brackets, and a plurality of lower radial support members having inner end portions and outer end portions, said inner end portions being attached to said inner frame support body at locations spaced below the attachment of said upper radial perimeter support members and extend outward and upward, said lower radial support member outer end portion attaching to said outer end portions of said upper radial perimeter support members.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 3 , said railed perimeter member comprising a plurality of perimeter rails forming the sides of said polygon and a plurality of bag support brackets forming the corners of said polygon attaching said perimeter rails to form said generally polygonal railed perimeter member.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 4 , wherein said plurality of perimeter rails and said bag support brackets are tubular members.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 5 , wherein said plurality of bag support brackets each define a bag support receiving bore for receiving the threaded shank of a bag support.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of  claim 6 , wherein said plurality of radial perimeter support members are tubular members;

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 7 , wherein said perimeter rails, said bag support brackets, and said radial perimeter support members are tubular members having square cross sections.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 1 , wherein said stanchion and said inner frame support body are round pipe members, said upper end portion of said stanchion having an upper mounting flange, said inner frame support body having a lower flange at its said lower end portion, said upper flange and said lower flange mating to form a releasable attachment therebetween by means of flange bolts.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 9 , said stanchion further comprising a lower flange for anchoring said stanchion in a vertical orientation.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 4 , wherein said railed perimeter member is generally triangular in shape, having three perimeter rails of equal length and three bag support brackets.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 4 , wherein said railed perimeter member is generally rectangular in shape, having four perimeter rails of equal length and four bag support brackets.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 4 , wherein said railed perimeter member is generally pentagonal in shape, having five perimeter rails of equal length and five bag support brackets.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 4 , wherein said railed perimeter member is generally octagonal in shape, having eight perimeter rails of equal length and eight bag support brackets.

. The multiple heavy bag stand of claim 14 , further comprising a plurality of lateral angle supports, each attached between said upper radial perimeter support members and said perimeter rails.

. A multiple heavy bag stand, comprising:
 an anchored vertical central post having an upper portion; a railed perimeter member generally forming a polygon surrounding said upper end portion of said central post; a plurality of radial perimeter support members extending radially from said central post to said railed perimeter member, and a plurality of bag support brackets defined by respective corners of said railed perimeter.
