Also disclosed are methods of treating and preventing diseases and disorders including, but not limited to, affective disorders such as depression, bipolar and manic disorders, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, cerebral function disorders, obesity and weight gain, incontinence, dementia and related disorders.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 60 . (canceled)
. A method of treating bipolar and manic conditions comprising administering to a human a therapeutically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. A method of treating weight gain or obesity comprising administering to a human a therapeutically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. A method of treating epilepsy comprising administering to a human a therapeutically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. A method of treating a cerebral function disorder comprising administering to a human a therapeutically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. The method of claim 64 , wherein the cerebral function disorder is senile dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory loss, amnesia or amnestic syndrome, disturbance of consciousness, coma, lowering of attention, a speech disorder, Parkinson's disease, Lennox syndrome, autism, hyperkinetic syndrome, or schizophrenia.
. The method of claim 64 , wherein the cerebral function disorder is caused by a cerebrovascular disease.
. A method of treating or preventing substance abuse comprising administering to a human a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. A method of treating or preventing pre-menstrual syndrome comprising administering to a human a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. A method of treating an eating disorder comprising administering to a human a therapeutically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. A method of treating or preventing migraine comprising administering to a human a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of a (−)-venlafaxine derivative, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its (+) stereoisomer.
. The method of claim 61 , 62 , 63 , 64 , 67 , 68 , 69 , or 70 , wherein the (−) venlafaxine derivative is (−)-O-desmethylvenlafaxine, (−)-N-desmethylvenlafaxine, (−)-N,O-didesmethylvenlafaxine, (−)-N,N-didesmethylvenlafaxine, or (−)-O-desmethyl-N,N-didesmethylvenlafaxine.
. The method of claim 71 , wherein the (−)-venlafaxine derivative is (−)-O-desmethylvenlafaxine.Cited by (0)
