Abstract
Some embodiments provide methods for use in storing digital content on a storage media. These methods store a first portion of digital content on a first portion of a storage media; store a second portion of digital content on a second portion of the storage media separate from the first portion of digital content, wherein the second portion of digital content is read separately from the first portion of digital content on the storage media and does not affect the reading of the first portion of digital content; and store control information on the storage media, wherein the control information defines a combination of the first portion of digital content and the second portion of digital content for reproduction of a unified digital content.
Claims

storing a first portion of digital content on a first portion of a storage media; storing a second portion of digital content on a second portion of the storage media separate from the first portion of digital content, wherein the second portion of digital content is read separately from the first portion of digital content on the storage media and does not affect the reading of the first portion of digital content; and storing control information on the storage media, wherein the control information defines a combination of the first portion of digital content and the second portion of digital content for reproduction of a unified digital content.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the digital content is reproducible independent of the second portion of the digital content.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second portion of digital content comprises one or more channels.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second portion of digital content comprises one or more signals.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the control information defines a reproduction of the second portion of the digital content independent of the first portion of the digital content.
6 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:
updating the control information through external input.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the updating of the control information comprises updating the control information such that updated control information adapts the reproduction of the unified digital content according to the external input.

The method of claim 4 , wherein the storing the first portion of the digital content comprises storing the first portion of the digital content to a first logical structure of the storage media, and the storing the second portion of the digital content comprises storing the second portion of the digital content to a second logical structure of the storage media that is distinct from the first logical structure.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the media is compact disc.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the digital content is reproducible by playing the storage media on a conventional digital media player, and the control information controls the reproduction of the first portion of digital content and the second portion of digital content to produce reproduction of the unified digital content by playing the storage media on a digital media player configured to read the second portion of digital content and the control information.
11 . A method for use in storing digital content, comprising:
deriving digital data from one or more content sources, the digital data comprising:
a plurality of digital signals; and
control information that controls the reproduction of reproduced content of one or more of the digital signals;
storing a portion of the plurality of digital signals on a first storage media; and storing the remainder of the digital data on one or more second storage media, wherein the first and second storage media are physically distinct.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the storing the portion of the plurality of digital data signals comprises storing a multi-track signal on the first storage media.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the multi-track signal comprises a two track audio signal.
14 . A method for use in storing digital data, comprising:
storing in a first portion of a medium a first multi-track digital signal; storing additional digital data on the medium outside the first portion of the medium according to a distinct logical structure requiring a differing read process than the first portion of the medium; and storing control information on the medium, where the control information controls a reproduction of a combination of the first multi-track digital signal and the additional digital data to produce a unified signal.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein unified signal comprises a second multi-track digital signal of higher resolution than the first multi-track digital signal.
