Abstract
A foam composite made up of a scaffold of an open cell hydrophobic material having plurality of surfaces defining a plurality of pores, and a coating of a substantially hydrophilic foam material disposed upon the surfaces of the hydrophobic foam. The resulting foam composite exhibits structural characteristics of the hydrophobic foam and absorbency characteristics of the hydrophilic foam.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 53 . (canceled)
54 . A process of making a foam composite, said process comprising:
(a) preparing a scaffold of an open cell hydrophobic polyurethane foam said scaffold having a plurality of surfaces defining a plurality of pores with pore size of 20 ppi; (b) preparing an emulsion comprising 1 part of a hydrophilic polyurethane prepolymer to 1.5 part 0.1% surfactant solution, wherein said emulsion upon curing forms a substantially open cell hydrophilic polyurethane foam; (c) distributing said emulsion onto said scaffold using a rolling pin; (f) curing said emulsion in water for 30 minutes at room temperature while in contact with said scaffold to form a foam composite; and (g) drying said foam composite at 105° C.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
