System, Method, and Computer Software Product for Gain Adjustment in Biological Microarray Scanner
Abstract
In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, a method for gain adjustment is described that comprises (a) receiving a user selection of one or more parameters that includes a first resolution value; (b) obtaining a plurality of pixel intensity values using the user selected parameters and a gain value, wherein the obtained pixel intensity values are representative of a distribution of pixel intensity values; (c) generating a measure of comparison between the representative distribution and a desired distribution of pixel intensity values; (d) adjusting the gain value using the measure of comparison; and (e) obtaining a plurality of pixel intensity values using a second resolution value and the adjusted gain value.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the first resolution value includes a measure of resolution that is less than the second resolution value.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the first resolution value is indicative of an average value of two or more pixels.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the first resolution value is indicative of obtaining values from non-neighboring pixels, wherein one or more pixels are positioned between each pixel value obtained.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the first resolution value is indicative of obtaining lines of pixel values from non-neighboring lines of pixels, wherein one or more lines of pixels are positioned between each line of pixel values obtained.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the parameters include one or more values associated with a scan area.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein:
the values associated with a scan area comprise a value associated with the X axis and a value associated with the Y axis.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein:
the value associated with the X axis includes a measure of distance from a first point of reference, and the value associated with the Y axis includes a measure of distance from a first point of reference.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
repeating steps (b)-(d) using the adjusted gain value at each iteration until an acceptable gain value is determined; and obtaining a plurality of pixel intensity values using a second resolution value and the acceptable gain value.
10 . A system for gain adjustment, comprising:
a gain data manager that receives a user selection of one or more parameters that includes a first resolution value; an intensity manager that obtains a plurality of pixel intensity values using the user selected parameters and a gain value, wherein the obtained pixel intensity values are representative of a distribution of pixel intensity values; a comparison manager that generates a measure of comparison between the representative distribution and a desired distribution of pixel intensity values; a gain adjuster that adjusts the gain value using the measure of comparison; and a controller that obtains a plurality of pixel intensity values using a second resolution value and the adjusted gain value.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein:
the first resolution value includes a measure of resolution that is less than the second resolution value.
12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein:
the first resolution value is indicative of an average value of two or more pixels.
13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein:
the first resolution value is indicative of obtaining values from non-neighboring pixels, wherein one or more pixels are positioned between each pixel value obtained.
14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein:
the first resolution value is indicative of obtaining lines of pixel values from non-neighboring lines of pixels, wherein one or more lines of pixels are positioned between each line of pixel values obtained.
15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein:
the parameters include one or more values associated with a scan area.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein:
the values associated with a scan area comprise a value associated with the X axis and a value associated with the Y axis.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein:
the value associated with the X axis includes a measure of distance from a first point of reference, and the value associated with the Y axis includes a measure of distance from a first point of reference.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
