Improved ophthalmological surgical methods, systems and devices, employing a colorant.

2 . A method for removing a layer of material from an eye, comprising the steps of:
a) providing in a multiple chamber delivery device components of a colorant admixture including:
i) indocyanine green; and
ii) a diluent;
b) mixing said components to form a colorant admixture; c) administering said colorant admixture into an eye of a patient; d) staining the anterior capsule of a cataract; and e) removing said cataract.

22 . A method for removing a layer of material from an eye, comprising the steps of:
a) providing a colorant admixture consisting essentially of:
i) indocyanine green; and
iii) a sterile aqueous diluent, wherein the indocyanine green is present in an amount of about 1 to about 4 mg per about 0.5 ml of the diluent;
