Abstract
An ice fishing sled includes a base, a plurality of side walls, a crossbar, and a seat. The base has a length and a width. The plurality of side walls are connected to the base, and extend generally normal to the base. The plurality of side walls include opposing side wall portions and opposing end wall portions. The crossbar is supported by the opposing end wall portions, and is positioned intermediate the opposing side wall portions. The seat is supported by the crossbar and a first one of the opposing side wall portions. Further disclosed is a method of connecting a wear strip to a sled.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An ice fishing sled comprising:
a base comprising a length and a width; a plurality of side walls connected to the base, the plurality of side walls extending generally normal to the base, the plurality of side walls comprising opposing side wall portions and opposing end wall portions; a crossbar supported by the opposing end wall portions, the crossbar being intermediate the opposing side wall portions; and a seat supported by the crossbar and a first one of the opposing side wall portions.
2 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 , wherein the crossbar is secured to the opposing end wall portions.
3 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 , wherein the seat is slidably connected to the crossbar and the first one of the opposing side wall portions.
4 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 and further comprising a pivotable frame system connected to the sled for supporting a canopy relative to the sled.
5 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 wherein the base comprises a plurality of runners extending along the length of the base.
6 . The ice fishing sled of claim 5 and further comprising a wear strip connected to a first runner.
7 . The ice fishing sled of claim 6 , wherein the wear strip comprises a base mateable with one of the runners and a plurality of ribs extending the length of the wear strip, in a direction generally normal to the base of the wear strip.
8 . The ice fishing sled of claim 6 wherein the first runner comprises a central channel and the wear strip base comprises a central groove alignable with the central channel of the first runner.
9 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of side walls terminate at an upper ledge, the side wall portions and end wall portions configured to define a step intermediate the base and the upper ledge, and wherein a distance between the opposing end wall portions is greater above the step than below the step.
10 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 and further comprising a first storage tray supported by at least two of the side walls.
11 . The ice fishing sled of claim 10 , wherein the first storage tray rests on the step defined in the opposing end wall portions.
12 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 and further comprising a second storage tray supported between the crossbar and a portion of one of the side walls.
13 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 wherein the seat comprises a seat assembly, the seat assembly comprises first and second spaced support members and first and second mounting brackets, wherein the first mounting bracket is located at first ends of the first and second spaced support members and the second mounting bracket is located at second ends of the first and second spaced support members.
14 . The ice fishing sled of claim 13 , wherein the seat assembly further comprises storage means mounted under the first and second support members.
15 . The ice fishing sled of claim 13 , wherein the seat is slidably secured to the first and second support members by a plurality of journal brackets.
16 . The ice fishing sled of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of side walls extend generally normal to the base and terminate at an upper ledge having a perimeter lip, and wherein the seat assembly catches the upper ledge and perimeter lip to secures the seat to the sled.
17 . The ice fishing sled of claim 13 , wherein the seat assembly further comprises a clip capable of being positioned adjacent the crossbar to slidably secure the seat to the crossbar.
18 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 , wherein the crossbar is a tubular member having a substantially rectangular cross-section.
19 . The ice fishing sled of claim 1 and further comprising a towing attachment connected to the sled at or near a first one of the end wall portions.
20 . The ice fishing sled of claim 19 and further comprising a connector disposed on the sled at or near a second one of the end wall portions, wherein the connector is capable of securing a towing attachment of a second ice fishing sled.
21 . An ice fishing sled for a portable ice fishing shelter, the sled comprising:
a base comprising a length and a width; a plurality of side walls connected to the base, the plurality of side walls extending generally normal to the base and terminating at an upper ledge, the plurality of side walls comprising opposing side wall portions and opposing end wall portions; a crossbar connected to the upper ledge of the opposing end walls, the crossbar being intermediate the opposing side walls; and a seat assembly having a first end slidably engaging the crossbar and a second end engaging the upper ledge of a first one of the opposing side wall portions.
22 . A method of connecting a wear strip to a sled, the method comprising:
providing a sled alignment groove along a base portion of the sled; providing a strip alignment groove along an outer face of the wear strip; creating a first pair of holes in the wear strip, wherein both holes are aligned with the strip alignment groove; creating a second pair of holes in the base portion of the sled, wherein the holes are aligned with the sled alignment groove, and wherein the holes are capable of alignment with the holes in the wear strip; and fastening the wear strip to the base portion of the sled, wherein the first and second pairs of holes are aligned.Cited by (0)
