Claims

Abstract

A saw, such as a chop saw, a miter saw, a sliding saw, a compound miter saw, etc. In some constructions, the saw may include a miter adjustment assembly including a coarse adjustment assembly and a fine adjustment assembly. In some constructions, the saw may include a bevel adjustment assembly including a brake mechanism and a bevel detent assembly. In some constructions, the saw may include a dust collection assembly including a dust chute defining a dust both around the bevel arm. In some constructions, the saw may include a table having a top wall with a peripheral rim and a side wall depending from the top wall, and a base defining an opening in which the side wall is received and a ledge above which the rim is positioned. In some constructions, the saw may include elastomeric material covering a portion of the base, such as a bottom surface, a lateral surface, a grip surface, etc.

1 . A power tool comprising: 
 a housing having a corner surface; and    elastomeric material covering at least a portion of the corner surface to prevent the corner surface from engaging another surface.    
   
   
       2 . The power tool of  claim 1 , wherein the housing has a bottom surface in facing relation to a support surface, and wherein elastomeric material covers at least a portion of the bottom surface to at least partially support the power tool on the support surface.  
   
   
       3 . The power tool of  claim 2 , wherein the corner surface is adjacent the bottom surface, and wherein the power tool further comprises an elastomeric member providing the elastomeric material covering the portion of the corner surface and the elastomeric material covering the portion of the bottom surface.  
   
   
       4 . The power tool of  claim 3 , wherein the elastomeric member has a first inner surface engageable with the portion of the corner surface and a second inner surface engageable with the portion of the bottom surface, the elastomeric member having an outer support surface engageable with the support surface to at least partially support the power tool on the support surface and another outer surface adjacent the outer support surface.  
   
   
       5 . The power tool of  claim 4 , wherein the housing includes a first surface and a second surface meeting to at least partially provide the corner surface, and wherein the first inner surface is engageable with at least a portion the first surface and with at least a portion of the second surface.  
   
   
       6 . The power tool of  claim 3 , wherein the elastomeric member is formed as a unitary member.  
   
   
       7 . The power tool of  claim 3 , wherein the elastomeric member is connectable to the housing.  
   
   
       8 . The power tool of  claim 7 , wherein the elastomeric member is removably connectable to the housing.  
   
   
       9 . The power tool of  claim 3 , wherein the housing includes a second corner surface spaced from the first-mentioned corner surface, and wherein the power tool further comprises a separate second elastomeric member providing elastomeric material covering at least a portion of the second corner surface and at least a second portion of the bottom surface.  
   
   
       10 . The power tool of  claim 1 , wherein the power tool is a saw, and wherein the saw further comprises: 
 a motor supported by the housing and operable to drive a saw blade to cut a work piece; and    a saw housing supporting the saw blade for movement relative to the housing between a cutting position, in which the saw blade is engageable with the work piece, and a non-cutting position.    
   
   
       11 . The power tool of  claim 1 , wherein the corner surface is formed of a first material, and wherein the elastomeric material is a different material.  
   
   
       12 . A power tool comprising: 
 a housing having a grip surface;    at least one handle engageable by an operator to cause the power tool to work on the work piece, the grip surface being engageable by an operator for carrying the power tool and not being engageable by an operator to cause the power tool to work on the work piece; and    elastomeric material covering at least a portion of the grip surface, at least a portion of the elastomeric material being engageable by an operator for carrying the power tool.    
   
   
       13 . The power tool of  claim 12 , wherein the housing includes a base supportable on a support surface to at least partially support the power tool on the support surface, and wherein the base provides the grip surface engageable by an operator for carrying the power tool.  
   
   
       14 . The power tool of  claim 12 , and further comprising a grip member providing elastomeric material covering the portion of the grip surface.  
   
   
       15 . The power tool of  claim 14 , wherein the grip member is formed as a unitary member.  
   
   
       16 . The power tool of  claim 14 , wherein the grip member is connectable to the housing.  
   
   
       17 . The power tool of  claim 16 , wherein the grip member is removably connectable to the housing.  
   
   
       18 . The power tool of  claim 12 , wherein the power tool is a saw, and wherein the saw further comprises: 
 a motor supported by the housing and operable to drive a saw blade to cut a work piece; and    a saw housing supporting the saw blade for movement relative to the housing between a cutting position, in which the saw blade is engageable with the work piece, and a non-cutting position.    
   
   
       19 . The power tool of  claim 12 , wherein the grip surface is formed of a first material, and wherein the elastomeric material is a different material.  
   
   
       20 . A power tool comprising: 
 a housing having a corner surface, the housing including a base supportable on a support surface to support the power tool on the support surface during use, a grip surface being provided on the base;    at least one handle engageable by an operator to cause the power tool to work on a work piece, the grip surface being engageable by an operator for carrying the power tool and not being engageable by an operator to cause the power tool to work on the work piece;    a first elastomeric member providing elastomeric material covering at least a portion of the corner surface to prevent the corner surface from engaging another surface, the first elastomeric member being connectable to the housing; and    a second elastomeric member providing elastomeric material covering at least a portion of the grip surface, the second elastomeric member being connectable to the base, the second elastomeric member being engageable by an operator for carrying the power tool.
