Abstract

An adjustable home entertainment cabinet for enclosing television sets of different sizes comprises a pair of movable tower cabinets and a bridge assembly that extends between the cabinets. A center section of the bridge rests on the tops of the cabinets. A bookshelf or shelf box is mounted on an underside of the center section. End sections movably mounted on the center section extend downwardly to cover gaps between the bookshelf and the inner sides of the tower cabinets. The center section includes a cornice molding that matches and is aligned with cornice molding on the tops of the tower cabinets. The end sections have a matching cornice molding that overlays and conceals the gap between the cornice moldings on the end sections and tower cabinets. Free standing television sets can rest on the floor. Table model sets and monitors can rest on free standing TV stands/storage cabinets of different widths that fit snugly between the tower cabinets. An adjustable media storage drawer has movable dividers with hook and loop fabric on lower edges that attach where desired to a loop fabric that covers the bottom of the drawer.

opposing first and second panels that are spaced apart from one another and extend upward from a supporting floor; a drawer supported between the opposing first and second panels, the drawer having a bottom with an upper surface, which surface is at least partially covered with one of a hook material and a loop material of a hook and loop fastener, the drawer also defining a drawer space above the bottom; a plurality of movable dividers that are adapted to divide the drawer space, each divider having a bottom engaging edge that is at least partially covered with the other of the hook material and the loop material and that abuts the drawer bottom, whereby each divider is releasably attachable to the bottom and whereby a location of each divider is adjustable.

2 . The combination of claim 1 wherein the dividers extend upward from the bottom engaging edge.

3 . The combination of claim 2 wherein at least some dividers are installed in parallel rows that permit media in the form of one or more of audio tapes, video tapes, CD's, and DVD's to be stored on their edges in a row between the partitions, the media drawer further comprising a backer rail having the other of a hook and loop fabric on a lower side thereof, the backer rail being releasably mounted on the bottom of the drawer at the end of a row of media in order to support the media in an upright position on their edges.

4 . The combination of claim 1 wherein at least some dividers are installed in parallel rows that permit media in the form of one or more of audio tapes, video tapes, CD's, and DVD's to be stored on their edges in a row between the partitions, the media drawer further comprising a backer rail having the other of a hook and loop fabric on a lower side thereof, the backer rail being releasably mounted on the bottom of the drawer at the end of a row of media in order to support the media in an upright position on their edges.

5 . The combination of claim 1 wherein the dividers extend upward from the bottom engaging edge to an opposing terminal edge that defines a hand grasp portion.

6 . The combination of claim 1 wherein the plurality of movable dividers include at least two types of dividers, namely, elongated dividers that extend within the drawer space and divide the drawer space into at least two media storage compartments within the drawer space and backer rails that extend within a media storage compartment and is adapted to brace at least one of an audio tape, a video tape, a CD, and a DVD in an upward extending orientation relative to the bottom.

7 . A combination of a furniture cabinet and a storage drawer, comprising:
opposing first and second panels that are spaced apart from one another and extend upward from a supporting floor; a drawer supported between the opposing first and second panels, the drawer having a bottom with an upper surface, which surface is at least partially covered with one of a hook material and a loop material of a hook and loop fastener, the drawer also defining a drawer space above the bottom; a plurality of movable dividers that extend within the drawer space and that divide the drawer space into at least two drawer compartments, each divider having a bottom edge that is at least partially covered with the other of the hook material and the loop material and that abuts the drawer bottom in releasable engagement; and a plurality of movable backers that extend within a drawer compartment, each backer having a bottom edge that is at least partially covered with the other of the hook material and the loop material and that abuts the drawer bottom in releasable engagement.

8 . The combination of claim 7 wherein each backer extends upward from the bottom edge and at least one backer is adjacent one of an audio tape, a video tape, a CD, and a DVD, supporting the one in an upward extending orientation relative to the bottom.

9 . The combination of claim 7 wherein a storage item is stored on the bottom, the item having a length, a width, and a thickness, the thickness being smaller than each of the length and the width and defining an edge, a backer being positioned adjacent the item and bracing the item in an upward standing orientation in which the item edge abuts the drawer upper surface and the item extends upward from the edge.

10 . The combination of claim 9 wherein at least one of the dividers and the backers extends upward from the bottom engaging edge to an opposing terminal edge that defines a hand grasp portion.

11 . The combination of claim 7 wherein at least one of the dividers and the backers extends upward from the bottom engaging edge to an opposing terminal edge that defines a hand grasp portion.

       12 . A furniture cabinet comprising:
a first side panel and an opposing second side panel, the first and the second side panels being spaced apart from and being generally parallel with one another, the first and the second side panels extending upward from a supporting floor; a cabinet interior space defined between the first and the second side panels; a box located within the cabinet interior space, the box having a bottom, having opposing front and back sides, and having opposing left and right sides, the front, the left, the back, and the right sides defining a perimeter frame that circumscribes the bottom and further defines a box space above the bottom, the bottom further having an upward facing surface that is at least partially covered with one of a hook material and a loop material of a hook and loop fastener; an item removably stored in the box and upon the surface, the item having a length and a width that define opposing surfaces of the item, the opposing surfaces being spaced apart defining a thickness that is less than each of the length and the width and defining an edge that circumscribes the item; and at least one backer in the box space and adjacent the item, the backer having a backer edge that is at least partially covered with the other of a hook material and a loop material, the backer edge abutting the bottom whereby the hook and loop fastener releasably connects the backer and the box, the divider extending upward from the bottom and bracing the item in an upward standing orientation in which the item edge abuts the box surface and the item extends upward from the bottom.

13 . The furniture cabinet of claim 12 further including at least one divider that extends between one of the opposing front and back sides and the opposing left and right sides, the divider thereby defining at least two compartments within the box space, the divider having a divider edge that is at least partially covered with the other of a hook material and a loop material, the divider edge abutting the bottom whereby the hook and loop fastener releasably connects the divider and the box, the divider extending upward from the bottom.

14 . A media storage drawer for storing home entertainment media, the media drawer comprising a bottom, an upper surface of which is covered at least partially with one of a hook and loop fabric, the media drawer further comprising a plurality of movable dividers for subdividing the space in the drawer, the dividers having bottom engaging edges covered at least partially with the other of a hook and loop fabric, the dividers being releasably attachable to the bottom at desired locations by engagement of the one and other hook and loop fabrics, the locations of the dividers being adjustable as needed for storing different types and sizes of media, the dividers being constructed such that the dividers stand on their edges when attached to the bottom of the drawer.

15 . A media storage drawer as in claim 14 wherein at least some dividers are installed in parallel rows that permit media in the form of one or more of audio tapes, video tapes, CD's, and DVD's to be stored on their edges in a row between the dividers, the media drawer further comprising a backer rail having the other of a hook and loop fabric on a lower side thereof, the backer rail being releasably mounted on the bottom of the drawer at the end of a row of media in order to support the media in an upright position on their edges.
