Pharmaceutical compositions containing bulbophyllum and their use for treating illnesses

Abstract

Described are pharmaceutical compositions containing Bulbophyllum , in particular compositions containing Bulbophyllum neilgherese , optionally in combination with suitable pharmaceutical excipients and carriers, as well as their use for treating illnesses, in particular illnesses of the cardiovascular system.

         12 . A pharmaceutical composition containing  Bulbophyllum neilgherense , optionally in combination with pharmaceutical acceptable excipients and/or carriers.  
     
     
         13 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 12 , wherein the  Bulbophyllum neilgherense  content per single dose is in the range of 1 ng to 1 mg.  
     
     
         14 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 12 , wherein the composition is processed into a form for epidural, peroral or topical administration.  
     
     
         15 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 12 , wherein the composition is processed into a form for injectable administration.  
     
     
         16 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 12 , wherein the composition is in the form of an alcoholic extract.  
     
     
         17 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 16  wherein the alcohol content is in the range of 81 to 100 percent by volume.  
     
     
         18 . A pharmaceutical composition according  claim 12  for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders.  
     
     
         19 . A pharmaceutical composition according  claim 18 , wherein the cardiovascular disorders comprise chest tightness, chest pressure, bradycardia, tachycardia, extrasystoles, arrhythmia, palpitation, atrial fibrillation, angina pectoris, stenosis of the coronary arteries, myocardial infarct, myocardial and septal hypertrophy, right ventricle cardiomegaly, primary pulmonary hypertension, hypertonia, peripheral acral cyanosis, dyspnea, and exertional dyspnea.  
     
     
         20 . A pharmaceutical composition for treating cardiovascular disorders comprising an effective amount of  Bulbophyllum neilgherense , optionally in combination with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients and/or carriers.  
     
     
         21 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the composition is in the form of an alcoholic extract.  
     
     
         22 . A pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 21 , wherein the alcohol content is in the range of 81 to 100 percent by volume.  
     
     
         23 . A method for treating a patient suffering from cardiovascular disorders comprising administering to said patient the pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 21 .  
     
     
         24 . The method according to  claim 23 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered as 1 to 3 daily doses over a period of 1 to 10 months.  
     
     
         25 . The method according to  claim 23 , wherein the cardiovascular disorders comprise chest tightness, chest pressure, bradycardia, tachycardia, extrasystoles, arrhythmia, palpitation, atrial fibrillation, angina pectoris, stenosis of the coronary arteries, myocardial infarct, myocardial and septal hypertrophy, right ventricle cardiomegaly, primary pulmonary hypertension, hypertonia, peripheral acral cyanosis, dyspnea, and exertional dyspnea.
