Abstract
A transmitter having two or more transmit antennas includes a bit parser for providing two or more data streams to an interleaver of the transmitter. The bit parser receives bits representing data to be transmitted over the transmit antennas, and parses the bits into a number of data streams equal to a number of the transmit antennas such that the bits are divided into bit groups, each having no more than two of the bits, and each of the data streams include non-adjacent ones of the bit groups.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A bit parser connected to provide two or more data streams to an interleaver of a transmitter having two or more transmit streams, said bit parser comprising:
an input operably coupled to receive bits representing data to be transmitted over the transmit antennas; a processing device operable to parse the bits into a number of data streams equal to a number of operating ones of the transmit antennas such that the bits are divided into bit groups of consecutive ones of the bits, each of the bit groups having no more than two of the bits, and each of the data streams includes non-adjacent ones of the bit groups; and an output operable to output the data streams to the interleaver.
2 . The bit parser of claim 1 , wherein each of the bit groups includes only one of the bits.
3 . The bit parser of claim 1 , wherein the number of the transmit antennas is at least three, and wherein the processing device is operable to parse the bits into three adjacent ones of the bit groups, a first adjacent one of the bit groups corresponding to a first one of the transmit antennas, a second adjacent one of the bit groups corresponding to a second one of the transmit antennas and a third adjacent one of the bit groups corresponding to a third one of the transmit antennas.
4 . The bit parser of claim 1 , wherein the processing device is further operable to parse the bits independent of a modulation type for the data streams.
5 . A radio frequency transmitter including two or more transmit antennas, said transmitter comprising:
a bit parser operably coupled to receive bits representing data to be transmitted over the transmit antennas and parse the bits into a number of data streams equal to a number of operating ones of the two or more transmit antennas such that the bits are divided into bit groups of consecutive ones of the bits, each of the bit groups having no more than two of the bits, and each of the data streams includes non-adjacent ones of the bit groups; and an interleaver operably coupled to receive the data streams and interleave the bits in the data streams to produce interleaved data streams spatially separated onto different transmit paths corresponding to different ones of the two or more transmit antennas.
6 . The transmitter of claim 5 , wherein each of the bit groups includes only one of the bits.
7 . The transmitter of claim 5 , wherein the number of the transmit antennas is at least three, and wherein the bit parser is operable to parse the bits into three adjacent ones of the bit groups, a first adjacent one of the bit groups being placed on a first one of the transmit paths for a first one of the transmit antennas, a second adjacent one of the bit groups being placed on a second one of the transmit paths for a second one of the transmit antennas and a third adjacent one of the bit groups being placed on a third one of the transmit paths for a third one of the transmit antennas.
8 . The transmitter of claim 5 , wherein the bit parser is further operable to parse the bits independent of a modulation type for the data streams.
9 . The transmitter of claim 5 , wherein the interleaver is further operable to interleave the bits within each of the data streams such that adjacent ones of the bits are mapped onto non-adjacent subcarriers.
10 . The transmitter of claim 9 , wherein the interleaver is further operable to interleave the bits within each of the data streams such that adjacent coded one of the bits are mapped alternatively onto less significant bits and more significant bits of the constellation.
11 . The transmitter of claim 5 , wherein the bit parser is included within the interleaver.
12 . A method for provide two or more data streams to an interleaver of a transmitter having two or more transmit antennas, said method comprising the steps of:
receiving bits representing data to be transmitted over the transmit antennas; parsing the bits into a number of data streams equal to a number of the transmit antennas such that the bits are divided into bit groups of consecutive ones of the bits, each of the bit groups having no more than two of the bits, and each of the data streams includes non-adjacent ones of the bit groups; and providing the data streams to the interleaver.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein each of the bit groups includes only one of the bits.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the number of the transmit antennas is at least three, and wherein the step of parsing further comprises the step of
parsing the bits into three adjacent ones of the bit groups, a first adjacent one of the bit groups corresponding to a first one of the transmit antennas, a second adjacent one of the bit groups corresponding to a second one of the transmit antennas and a third adjacent one of the bit groups corresponding to a third one of the transmit antennas.
15 . A method for interleaving data in a transmitter including two or more transmit antennas, said method comprising the steps of:
receiving bits representing data to be transmitted over the transmit antennas; parsing the bits into a number of data streams equal to a number of the two or more transmit antennas such that the bits are divided into bit groups of consecutive ones of the bits, each of the bit groups having no more than two of the bits, and each of the data streams includes non-adjacent ones of the bit groups; and interleaving the bits in the data streams to produce interleaved data streams spatially separated onto different transmit paths corresponding to different ones of the two or more transmit antennas.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein each of the bit groups includes only one of the bits.
17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the number of the transmit antennas is at least three, and wherein the step of parsing further comprises the step of:
parsing the bits into three adjacent ones of the bit groups, a first adjacent one of the bit groups being placed on a first one of the transmit paths for a first one of the transmit antennas, a second adjacent one of the bit groups being placed on a second one of the transmit paths for a second one of the transmit antennas and a third adjacent one of the bit groups being placed on a third one of the transmit paths for a third one of the transmit antennas.
