Tumor necrosis factor alpha

Abstract

The present disclosure describes the use of genetic variance information for genes involved in inflammatory or immunologic disease, disorder, or dysfunction. The variance information is indicative of the expected response of a patient to a method of treatment. Methods of determining relevant variance information and additional methods of using such variance information are also described.

         17 . An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising 15 to 500 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO: 1 (tumor necrosis factor alpha) including a nucleotide selected from the group consisting of: 
 (a) nucleotide 87 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein G is replaced by T;    (b) nucleotide 779 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein A is replaced by C;    (c) nucleotide 1155 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein G is replaced by A; and    (d) nucleotide 1420 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein G is replaced by A.    
     
     
         18 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid molecule comprises fewer than 200 nucleotides of SEQ ID NO: 1.  
     
     
         19 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid molecule comprises fewer than 100 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:1.  
     
     
         20 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid molecule comprises fewer than 100 nucleotides.  
     
     
         21 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid molecule is DNA.  
     
     
         22 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid molecule comprises DNA and at least one nucleic acid analog.  
     
     
         23 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid comprises peptide nucleic acid (PNA).  
     
     
         24 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17 , further comprising a detectable label.  
     
     
         25 . The isolated nucleic acid of  claim 24 , wherein said detectable label is a fluorescent label.  
     
     
         26 . The isolated nucleic acid molecule of  claim 17  wherein the nucleic acid molecule includes at least two nucleotides selected from the group consisting of: 
 (a) nucleotide 87 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein G is replaced by T;    (b) nucleotide 779 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein A is replaced by C;    (c) nucleotide 1155 of SEQ ID NO:1 wherein G is replaced by A; and    (d) nucleotide 1420 of SEQ ID NO: 1 wherein G is replaced by A.
