The present invention provides a process for purifying olmesartan medoxomil. Also provided is pure olmesartan medoxomil.

       2 . The olmesartan medoxomil of  claim 1 , containing less than about 0.13% area by HPLC OLM-acid.  
   
   
       3 . The olmesartan medoxomil of  claim 2 , containing less than about 0.12% area by HPLC OLM-acid.  
   
   
       4 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising the olmesartan medoxomil of  claim 1  and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
