Abstract

A wireless intelligent personal server includes a radio frequency (RF) receiver, a memory for storing electronic files, a set of embedded machine language instructions, a central processing unit (CPU), a first interface for a display device, such as a personal digital assistant (PDA), and a second interface for a wireless telephone. The RF receiver receives downstream data transmitted over a downstream wireless communications channel. The CPU executes the machine language instructions to process the downstream data and, thereby, either update an existing target electronic file stored in the memory, so that the target electronic file reflects changes made to a source electronic file, or create a new electronic file in the memory. A display device may be brought into communication with the wireless intelligent personal server, via the first interface, to access the electronic files stored in the memory. The wireless intelligent personal server may also transmit an upstream signal over an upstream wireless communication channel, such as by using a wireless telephone, in communication via the second interface. The upstream signal may acknowledge receipt of the downstream data, or it may include upstream data reflecting changes to the electronic files stored in the memory made by the display device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A wireless communication system, comprising:
a wireless network management system, in communication with a first wireless network and a second wireless network, wherein the wireless network management system sends information to said first wireless network for transmission, wherein said information reflects changes to at least one source electronic file; and a wireless server, comprising: a radio frequency (RF) transceiver for receiving said information from said first wireless network transmitted over a first wireless communications channel; a memory; a central processing unit (CPU); and a set of embedded machine language instructions, said set of embedded machine language instructions being executable by said CPU for processing said information to change at least one stored electronic file in said memory, a first interface of the wireless server allowing an external display device to selectively access and display said at least one stored electronic file, said RF transceiver transmitting upstream data over a second wireless communications channel, said upstream data reflecting changes made to said at least one stored electronic file; and the wireless network management system receiving said upstream data via either said first wireless network or said second wireless network.

2 . A method for updating a target electronic file to reflect changes made to a source electronic file, said method comprising the steps of:
storing said target electronic file in a wireless personal server; receiving, by said wireless personal server, downstream data transmitted over a first wireless communications channel, said downstream data reflecting said changes made to said source electronic file; and automatically updating, by said wireless personal server, said target electronic file with said downstream data to provide an updated electronic file; bringing an external display device into communication with said wireless personal server; and selectively accessing and displaying said updated electronic file with said external display device.
