Offload system, method, and computer program product for port-related processing

Abstract

An offload system, method, and computer program product are provided. In use, data is communicated between a host and at least one network utilizing a network interface capable of transport layer processing. Further, a port associated with the data is identified. The connection, by which the data is communicated, is managed utilizing the network interface. Further, the connection and the port are bound.

1 . A method, comprising: 
 communicating data between a host and at least one network, utilizing a network interface capable of transport layer processing;    identifying a port associated with the data; and    managing a connection by which the data is communicated, utilizing the network interface;    wherein the connection and the port are bound.    
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1 , and further comprising determining whether the data is associated with a predetermined port.  
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 2 , and further comprising storing at least a portion of the data, based on the determination.  
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein a failure is identified.  
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein a flush operation is performed in response to the failure.  
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the network interface offloads network protocol processing from a processor of the host.  
   
   
       7 . A computer program product embodied on a tangible computer readable medium, comprising: 
 computer code that communicates data between a host and at least one network, utilizing a network interface capable of transport layer processing;    computer code that identifies a port associated with the data; and    computer code that manages a connection by which the data is communicated, utilizing the network interface;    wherein the connection and the port are bound.    
   
   
       8 . The computer program product of  claim 7 , and further comprising computer code that determines whether the data is associated with a predetermined port.  
   
   
       9 . The computer program product of  claim 8 , and further comprising computer code that stores at least a portion of the data, based on the determination.  
   
   
       10 . The computer program product of  claim 7 , wherein a failure is identified.  
   
   
       11 . The computer program product of  claim 10 , wherein a flush operation is performed in response to the failure.  
   
   
       12 . The computer program product of  claim 7 , wherein the network interface offloads network protocol processing from a processor of the host.  
   
   
       13 . A system, comprising: 
 a network interface capable of transport layer processing and operable to communicate data between a host and at least one network, and to identify a port associated with the data; and    wherein a connection by which the data is managed, utilizing the network interface, and the connection and the port are bound.    
   
   
       14 . The system of  claim 13 , and further comprising logic for determining whether the data is associated with a predetermined port.  
   
   
       15 . The system of  claim 14 , and further comprising logic for storing at least a portion of the data, based on the determination.  
   
   
       16 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein a failure is identified.  
   
   
       17 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein a flush operation is performed in response to the failure.  
   
   
       18 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the network interface offloads network protocol processing from a processor of the host.
