Abstract
An apparatus and method for dissuading predatory animals from attacking. The device and method employ depictions of an eye, especially the eye of a predator of the predatory animals, to initiate a startle response in the predatory animal thereby dissuading an attack. The depiction of one or more eyes may be placed on clothing or equipment carried into the aquatic or land based environment of the predator being dissuaded.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An apparatus for dissuading predators of humans who enter their environment comprising:
a depiction of an eye; and said depiction of said eye positioned upon a surface to be employed by a user temporarily occupying a human predator's environment; and said depiction providing means to startle said predator and dissuade an attack by said predator upon said user.
2 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 1 further comprising:
said depiction of said eye being a depiction of an eye of an animal determined to startle said predator.
3 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 1 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a swim fin worn by said user.
4 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 2 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a swim fin worn by said user.
5 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 1 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a surfboard.
6 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 2 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a surfboard.
7 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 3 further comprising:
said predator being a shark; and said depiction of an eye being a depiction of an eye of a killer whale.
8 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 4 further comprising:
said predator being a shark; and said depiction of an eye being a depiction of an eye of a killer whale.
9 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 5 further comprising:
said predator being a shark; and said depiction of an eye being a depiction of an eye of a killer whale.
10 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 6 further comprising:
said predator being a shark; and said depiction of an eye being a depiction of an eye of a killer whale.
11 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 1 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a wet suit.
12 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 2 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a boogie board.
13 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 2 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a wet suit.
14 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 2 further comprising:
said predator being an aquatic predator; and said surface being a boogie board.
15 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 13 further comprising:
said predator being a shark; and said depiction of an eye being a depiction of an eye of a killer whale.
16 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 14 further comprising:
said predator being a shark; and said depiction of an eye being a depiction of an eye of a killer whale.
17 . An apparatus for dissuading predators comprising:
a depiction of an eye of an animal determined to startle said predator; and means of attachment of said depiction of an eye to a portable surface being taken into a predator's living environment, whereby said depiction of said eye, when attached to said surface and encountered by said predator, provides means to startle said predator and dissuade attack.
18 . A method of dissuading attacks by predatory animals upon humans entering or occupying the predator's environment comprising the steps of:
creating a depiction of an eye of an animal determined to dissuade or startle a human predator; placing at least one rendition of said depiction of said eye upon a portable surface being carried into the environment of said human predator; and said depiction of said eye providing means to startle and dissuade said human predator while said human occupies said predator's living environment.
19 . The method of dissuading attacks by predatory animals of claim 18 additionally comprising:
said surface being an article of clothing worn by said human being into said living environment.
20 . The apparatus for dissuading predators of claim 2 further comprising:
said apparatus being supplied as a kit; and said kit having a plurality of different said depictions of eyes of an animals determined to startle respective one of a plurality of different human predators; and said kit providing a means for user selection of a said depiction of said eye of an animal from said plurality, which the user anticipates encountering when entering that predator's environment thereby providing means to adapt the apparatus to dissuade a variety of different human predators.Cited by (0)
