Abstract

The present invention relates to antifungal and antibacterial activity of processed Morinda citrifolia products, as well as from various fractions of extracts from these processed products and the Morinda citrifolia L. plant, and related methods to determine mean inhibitory concentrations. In particular, the present invention relates to ethanol, methanol and ethyl acetate extracts from Morinda citrifolia L. and their inhibitory activities on common fungi and bacteria and the identification of mean inhibitory concentrations.

       9 . A method for inhibiting harmful fungal and microbial activity within a mammal, said method comprising the steps of: 
 orally administering to said mammal at least three ounces of a formulation comprising:    processed  Morinda citrifolia  juice between about 0.01 and 99.9 percent by weight;      Morinda citrifolia  oil between about 0.1 and 30 percent by weight; and    between about 0.01 and 50 percent by weight on an empty stomach in the morning;    orally administering to said mammal at least three ounces of said formulation on an empty stomach prior to sleeping at night; and    repeating said steps of orally administering each day until all harmful fungi and microbials are destroyed.

       14 . The method of  claim 9  become aware in said processed formulation further comprises Rutin.  
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein said Rutin is present in an amount between about 0.1 and 10 percent by weight.  
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein said formulation is administered by a method selected from a group consisting of: orally, transthermally, injection into said infected area, intravenously and systemically.  
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein said formulation further comprises a  Morinda citrifolia CL   2 CL 2 fraction.  
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein said formulation further comprises  Morinda citrifolia  ETOAc fraction.  
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising a  Morinda citrifolia  n-BuOH fraction.
