Picture frame

Abstract

The picture frame has a transparent front and back panel with integrated friction clamps that interact to close the frame around a picture, or has a transparent folded outer glazing that holds an inside assembly around a picture. The frictional clamp and the folded outer glazing and inside assembly allow the frame to be opened and the picture to be replaced. A hanging-bumper device protrudes from the back of the frame either as an integral component of the back panel, outer glazing, or inside assembly, or as a removable attachment.

1 . A picture frame comprising a transparent front panel, a transparent back panel, and a means for affixing said front panel to said back panel so as to provide a space between said front panel and said back panel for accommodating a picture.  
   
   
       2 . A picture frame comprising a transparent folded outer glazing into which fits a two-piece inside assembly that accommodates a picture.  
   
   
       3 . The picture frame of  claim 1  wherein said means for affixing comprises an inner frictional clamp affixed to said front panel and an outer friction clamp affixed to said back panel.  
   
   
       4 . The picture frame of  claim 1 , further comprising a hanging-bumper devices that secure the inside assembly to the back of the folded outer glazing, a button that keeps the open end of the folded outer glazing shut, and a dovetailing system that keeps the two parts of the inside assembly together.  
   
   
       5 . The picture frame of  claim 1  further comprising a hanging-bumper device affixed to said back panel on an outside surface of said back panel.  
   
   
       6 . The picture frame of  claim 1  further comprising a hanging-bumper device affixed to a middle ledge of the inside assembly.  
   
   
       7 . A picture frame comprising 
 a two piece frame member, having a front frame member and a back frame member, each frame member defining an open area inside said frame member;    a friction member that holds the front frame member and the back frame member together; and    transparent front and back panels which cover the open area of said frame members.    
   
   
       8 . The picture frame of  claim 7  wherein 
 said transparent front and back panels are joined to form a folded outer glazing.    
   
   
       9 . The picture frame of  claim 7  wherein 
 said transparent front panel is integral with said front frame member and said transparent back panel is integral with said back frame member.
