Abstract
Optical component for use in a touch sensor and method of fabrication of same are disclosed. Optical component includes a multilayer optical film at least some layers of which are fabricated on the same manufacturing line and using the same manufacturing method. Each layer of the multilayer optical film is designed primarily to provide a desired associated property.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of manufacturing a touch sensor component, the method comprising the steps of:
forming a glass substrate on a molten metal bath; depositing by atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition at least four films onto the glass substrate including: a transparent conductive film configured for detecting a touch on the touch sensor component; a barrier film configured to isolate the transparent conductive film from the glass substrate; a protective film configured to resist abrasion; and an antireflective film.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the protective film is deposited after the transparent conductive film.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the protective film is deposited before the transparent conductive film.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising forming an antiglare coating over the four films.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the antiglare coating incorporates particles to form a matte surface.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the steps of providing electrical leads connecting the transparent conductive film to electronic circuitry for determining the touch location.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the protective film and the barrier film protects the transparent conductive film from undesired effects during high temperature processing.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the undesired effects include oxidation of the transparent conductive film.
9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the undesired effects include impurities reaching the transparent conductive film.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the antireflective film protects the transparent conductive film from oxidation or impurities.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transparent conductive film comprises indium tin oxide, fluorine doped tin oxide, or tin antimony oxide.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the barrier film comprises silicon dioxide.
