Combinations for the treatment of noeplastic disorders

Abstract

The invention features a method for treating a patient having a cancer or other neoplasm by administering to the patient two compounds simultaneously or within 14 days of each other in amounts sufficient to treat the patient.

1 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising: 
 a) a first compound selected from chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine, perphenazine, mepazine, methotrimeprazine, acepromazine, thiopropazate, perazine, propiomazine, putaperazine, thiethylperazine, methopromazine, chlorfenethazine, cyamemazine, perphenazine, enanthate, trifluoperazine, thioridazine, and norchlorpromazine; and    b) a second compound selected from pentamidine, propamidine, butamidine, heptamidine, nonamidine, stilbamidine, hydroxystilbamidine, diminazene, benzamidine, phenamidine, dibrompropamidine, 1,3-bis(4-amidino-2-methoxyphenoxy)propane, netropsin, distamycin, phenamidine, and amicarbalide.    
   
   
       2 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein said first and second compounds are present in amounts that, when administered together to a patient having a neoplasm, reduce cell proliferation in said neoplasm.  
   
   
       3 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein said composition is formulated for administration to a patient by intravenous, intramuscular, rectal, inhalation, or oral administration.  
   
   
       4 . A pharmaceutical pack comprising chlorpromazine and pentamidine. 
 a) a first compound selected from chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine, perphenazine, mepazine, methotrimeprazine, acepromazine, thiopropazate, perazine, propiomazine, putaperazine, thiethylperazine, methopromazine, chlorfenethazine, cyamemazine, perphenazine, enanthate, trifluoperazine, thioridazine, and norchlorpromazine; and    b) a second compound selected from pentamidine, propamidine, butamidine, heptamidine, nonamidine, stilbamidine, hydroxystilbamidine, diminazene, benzamidine, phenamidine, dibrompropamidine, 1,3-bis(4-amidino-2-methoxyphenoxy)propane, netropsin, distamycin, phenamidine, and amicarbalide.
