Abstract
A structured document browser includes a constant user interface for displaying and viewing sections of a document that is organized according to a pre-defined structure. The structured document browser displays documents that have been marked with embedded codes that specify the structure of the document. The tags are mapped to correspond to a set of icons. When the icon is selected while browsing a document, the browser will display the section of the structure corresponding to the icon selected, while preserving the constant user interface.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A computer-readable storage medium comprising:
operational instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to receive a first selection generated by a user pressing a first button of a plurality of buttons of a keyboard, the first selection corresponding to a first portion of web information; operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to display the first portion of the web information that corresponds to the first selection; operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive a second selection generated by the user pressing a second button of the plurality of buttons of the keyboard, the second selection corresponding to a second portion of the web information; and operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to display the second portion of the web information that corresponds to the second selection.
2 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of buttons of the keyboard are arranged in a row.
3 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 further comprising:
operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to, before the first and second selections are received:
associate the first button with the first portion of the web information; and
associate the second button with the second portion of the web information.
4 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the first button is associated with the first portion of the web information to the exclusion of other web information, and wherein the second button is associated with the second portion of the web information to the exclusion of other web information.
5 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein when the first portion of the web information is displayed, it is displayed in a display window irrespective of a relationship between the first portion of the web information and whatever portion of the web information is displayed in the display window when the first selection is received.
6 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 5 , wherein when the second portion of the web information is displayed, it is displayed in the display window irrespective of a relationship between the second portion of the web information and whatever portion of the web information is displayed in the display window when the second selection is received.
7 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the computer-readable storage medium includes at least one of RAM and a mass storage device.
8 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the first and second portions of the web information are displayed on a display device.
9 . A system comprising:
a keyboard that includes a plurality of buttons; and a computer-readable storage medium comprising:
operational instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to receive a first selection generated by a user pressing a first button of the plurality of buttons of the keyboard, the first selection corresponding to a first portion of web information;
operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to display the first portion of the web information that corresponds to the first selection;
operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive a second selection generated by the user pressing a second button of the plurality of buttons of the keyboard, the second selection corresponding to a second portion of the web information; and
operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to display the second portion of the web information that corresponds to the second selection.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of buttons of the keyboard are arranged in a row.
11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the computer-readable storage medium further comprises:
operational instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to, before the first and second selections are received:
associate the first button with the first portion of the web information; and
associate the second button with the second portion of the web information.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the first button is associated with the first portion of the web information to the exclusion of other web information, and wherein the second button is associated with the second portion of the web information to the exclusion of other web information.
13 . The system of claim 9 , wherein when the first portion of the web information is displayed, it is displayed in a display window irrespective of a relationship between the first portion of the web information and whatever portion of the web information is displayed in the display window when the first selection is received.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein when the second portion of the web information is displayed, it is displayed in the display window irrespective of a relationship between the second portion of the web information and whatever portion of the web information is displayed in the display window when the second selection is received.
15 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the computer-readable storage medium includes at least one of RAM and a mass storage device.
16 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the first and second portions of the web information are displayed on a display device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
