Abstract
Disclosed are bacterial virulence polypeptides and nucleic acid sequences (e.g., DNA) encoding such polypeptides, and methods for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques. Also provided are methods for utilizing such polypeptides to screen for antibacterial or bacteriostatic compounds.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A substantially pure polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence that is substantially identical to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:92.
2 . The polypeptide of claim 1 , comprising an amino acid sequence that has at least 90% identity to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:92.
3 . The polypeptide of claim 2 , comprising an amino acid sequence that is identical to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:92.
4 . A method for identifying a compound which binds a polypeptide, said method comprising the steps of:
(a) contacting a candidate compound with a substantially pure polypeptide of claim 1 under conditions that allow binding; and (b) detecting binding of the candidate compound to the polypeptide.
5 . A substantially pure polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence substantially identical to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:220.
6 . The polypeptide of claim 5 , comprising an amino acid sequence that has at least 90% identity to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:220.
7 . The polypeptide of claim 6 , comprising an amino acid sequence that is identical to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:220.
8 . A method for identifying a compound which binds a polypeptide, said method comprising the steps of:
(a) contacting a candidate compound with a substantially pure polypeptide of claim 5 under conditions that allow binding; and (b) detecting binding of the candidate compound to the polypeptide.
9 . A substantially pure polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence substantially identical to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:272.
10 . The polypeptide of claim 9 , comprising an amino acid sequence that has at least 90% identity to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:272.
11 . The polypeptide of claim 10 , comprising an amino acid sequence that is identical to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide encoded by SEQ ID NO:272.
12 . A method for identifying a compound which binds a polypeptide, said method comprising the steps of:
(a) contacting a candidate compound with a substantially pure polypeptide of claim 9 under conditions that allow binding; and (b) detecting binding of the candidate compound to the polypeptide.Cited by (0)
