Use of l-butylphthalide in the manufacture of medicaments for prevention and treatment of cerebral infarct

Abstract

The present invention discloses the use of L-butylphthalide of formula (I) in the manufacture of medicaments for the prevention and treatment of cerebral infarct, especially induced by focal cerebral ischemia.

1 . Use of L-butylphthalide of formula (I),  
     
       
         
         
             
             
         
       
     
     in the manufacture of medicaments for the prevention or treatment of cerebral infarct.  
   
   
       2 . The use according to  claim 1 , wherein said cerebral infarct is induced by focal cerebral ischemia.  
   
   
       3 . The use according to  claim 1 , wherein the therapeutically effective dose of said compound is 0.1-100 mg/kg per day.  
   
   
       4 . A pharmaceutical composition, comprising a therapeutic effective dose of L-butylphthalide of formula (I),  
     
       
         
         
             
             
         
       
     
     and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.  
   
   
       5 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 4 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition includes tablets, capsules, pills, injections, sustained release formulations, controlled released formulations, and various micro-particle delivery system.  
   
   
       6 . A method for preventing or treating cerebral infarct in human beings, comprising administering a therapeutically effective dose of L-butylphthalide of formula (I),  
     
       
         
         
             
             
         
       
     
     to a subject in need of such prevention or treatment.  
   
   
       7 . The method according to  claim 6 , wherein said cerebral infarct is induced by focal cerebral ischemia.  
   
   
       8 . The method according to  claim 6 , wherein the therapeutically effective dose of said L-butylphthalide is 0.1-100 mg/kg per day.
