Abstract

A friction-reducing abrasion resistant bearing material is described. The material comprises a monolithic, porous polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) having dispersed therein a wear-resistant thermosetting or thermoplastic resin material.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of forming a bearing material comprising:
providing a porous, monolithic PTFE material; imbibing at least a portion of the pores within the PTFE material with at least one polymer resin selected from the group consisting of thermosetting resins and thermoplastic resins; curing said at least one polymer resin; and forming said imbibed PTFE material into a bearing.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising bonding said imbibed PTFE material to a substrate.
