Abstract
Disclosed herein are golf products, such as golf balls and golf clubs, and/or components thereof, including the product of a fast-chemical-reaction mixture comprising a caprolactam polyol and an isocyanate. The component is formed by reaction injection molding the reaction mixture.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A golf ball component including the product of a fast-chemical-reaction mixture comprising an isocyanate and a caprolactam polyol, wherein said fast-chemical-reaction mixture has a reaction time of two minutes or less.
2 . The golf ball component of claim 1 , wherein the reaction mixture further comprises at least one other reactant.
3 . The golf ball component of claim 2 , wherein the other reactant is selected from the group consisting of a reactant having one or more hydroxyl groups, a reactant having one or more amine groups, and combinations thereof.
4 . The golf ball component of claim 2 , wherein the other reactant is a polyol.
5 . The golf ball component of claim 4 , wherein the polyol is a polyether polyol or a polyester polyol.
6 . The golf ball component of claim 4 , wherein the polyol is polypropylene glycol or polytetramethylene ether glycol.
7 . The golf ball component of claim 1 , wherein the golf ball component has a Shore D hardness greater than 50.
8 . The golf ball component of claim 1 , wherein the golf ball component has a Shore D hardness of 10 to 95.
9 . The golf ball component of claim 1 , wherein the component is selected from the group consisting of a one-piece golf ball, a cover, an intermediate layer, a layer of a cover, a core, and a layer of a core.
10 . The golf ball component of claim 1 , wherein the component is formed from the fast-chemical-reaction mixture in a reaction time of one minute or less.
11 . The golf ball component of claim 1 , wherein the component is formed from the fast-chemical-reaction mixture in a reaction time of thirty seconds or less.
12 . A method for making a golf ball component, comprising:
forming a fast-chemical-reaction mixture comprising an isocyanate prepolymer and a caprolactam polyol; and molding the reaction mixture to form a golf ball component.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the reaction mixture further comprises apolyol or a chain extender.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the reaction mixture further comprises polypropylene glycol or polytetramethylene ether glycol.
15 . A golf product component comprising including the product of a fast-chemical-reaction mixture comprising an isocyanate prepolymer and a caprolactam polyol.
16 . The golf ball component of claim 15 , wherein the reaction mixture further comprises at least one other reactant.
17 . The golf ball component of claim 16 , wherein the other reactant is selected from the group consisting of a reactant having one or more hydroxyl groups, a reactant having one or more amine groups, and combinations thereof.
18 . The golf ball component of claim 16 , wherein the other reactant is a polyol.
19 . A golfball comprising a core and a cover layer disposed about said core, wherein the cover layer is formed from the fast-chemical-reactive mixture comprising an isocyanate prepolymer and a caprolactam polyol, and wherein said fast-chemical reactive mixture has a reaction time of two minutes or less at processing conditions.
20 . The golf ball of claim 19 , wherein the reaction time is thirty seconds or less at processing conditions.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
