Abstract

An ATM is operative to conduct financial transactions in response to messages exchanged with a server via the Internet. The server is operative to send markup language documents to the ATM. The ATM includes a browser and can process received markup language documents. The documents include instructions that cause the ATM to operate specific transaction devices, such as a cash dispenser.

3 . The system according to claim 2 wherein the computer is operative to communicate with the ATM computer via Internet communication, wherein the computer software is operative to cause the at least one markup language document to be sent from the computer to the ATM via the Internet.

4 . The system according to claim 1 wherein the sheet dispenser comprises a cash dispenser, wherein the cash dispenser is operative to dispense cash from the ATM, wherein the at least one instruction comprises a cash dispense instruction, wherein the ATM is operative to cause cash to be dispensed from the ATM responsive to processing the at least one markup language document.

5 . The system according to claim 1 wherein the computer comprises a server, wherein the computer software comprises server software, wherein the server software is executable in the server, wherein the server software is operative to cause the at least one markup language document to be sent from the server to the ATM via Internet communication.

6 . The system according to claim 5 wherein the ATM is operative to communicate with the server via the Internet, wherein the server software causes the at least one markup language document to be sent from the server to the ATM responsive to the server receiving a message from the ATM via the Internet.

7 . The system according to claim 6 wherein the at least one markup language document comprises at least one HTML document, wherein the server software causes the server to produce the at least one HTML document, wherein the server software causes the at least one HTML document to be sent from the server to the ATM via Internet communication.

8 . The system according to claim 1 wherein the sheet dispenser comprises a cash dispenser, wherein the cash dispenser is operative to dispense cash from the ATM, wherein the at least one ATM computer is operative to control the cash dispenser, wherein the browser software is executable in the at least one ATM computer, wherein the at least one ATM computer comprises Internet access, wherein the at least one ATM computer is operative to process markup language documents received via the Internet, wherein the computer comprises a server, wherein the computer software comprises server software, wherein the server software is executable in the server, wherein the at least one server is in operative connection with the ATM via the Internet, wherein the server software is operative to cause at least one markup language document to be sent from the server to the ATM via the Internet, wherein the at least one ATM computer is operative to cause the cash dispenser to dispense cash responsive to the ATM processing the cash dispense instruction.

9 . The system according to claim 8 wherein the ATM includes cash, and further comprising at least one markup language document, wherein the at least one markup language document includes at least one instruction, wherein the at least one instruction is operative to cause the ATM to dispense the cash responsive to the ATM processing the cash dispense instruction.

10 . Computer software on at least one computer readable medium,
wherein the computer software is executable in at least one non automated teller machine (ATM) computer, wherein the computer software is operative to cause at least one markup language document comprising at least one instruction to be provided to an ATM including a cash dispenser,
wherein the at least one markup language document is processable by at least one computer of the ATM,
wherein responsive to processing of the at least one markup language document by the ATM, the at least one instruction is operative to cause the ATM to dispense cash therefrom via operation of the cash dispenser.

11 . The computer software according to claim 10 wherein the computer software comprises server software, wherein the server software is readable by a server, wherein the server software is operative to cause the at least one markup language document to be produced.

12 . The computer software according to claim 11 wherein the server software is operative to cause the server to produce the at least one markup language document.

13 . The computer software according to claim 12 wherein the server software enables the server to communicate with the ATM via Internet communication.

14 . The computer software according to claim 13 wherein the server software is operative to cause the server to send the at least one markup language document to the ATM via the Internet.

       15 . A method comprising:
 (a) operating computer software in a computer to cause at least one markup language document including at least one instruction to be produced; (b) processing the at least one markup language document through operation of an automated teller machine (ATM); and (c) dispensing cash from the ATM responsive to the at least one instruction in the at least one markup language document processed in step (b).

16 . The method according to claim 15 wherein step (a) includes operating the computer software to cause the computer to produce the at least one markup language document.
