Abstract

A modular laundry system comprises first and second laundry appliances in one of a horizontal and vertical arrangement, a first vertical module horizontally arranged relative to the first and second laundry appliances, and a second vertical module horizontally arranged relative to the first and second laundry appliances and to the first vertical module.

1 . A modular laundry system comprising: 
 first and second laundry appliances in one of a horizontal and vertical arrangement;    a first vertical module horizontally arranged relative to the first and second laundry appliances; and    a second vertical module horizontally arranged relative to the first and second laundry appliances and to the first vertical module.    
   
   
       2 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are horizontally arranged.  
   
   
       3 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are vertically arranged with one another.  
   
   
       4 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1  and further comprising a horizontal module vertically arranged with at least one of the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       5 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 4 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are horizontally arranged, and the horizontal module spans an interface between the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       6 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 4 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are horizontally arranged, and the horizontal module at least partially spans at least one of the first and second laundry appliances and at least one of the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       7 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1  and further comprising a horizontal module vertically arranged relative to the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       8 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1  and further comprising a work surface completely spanning the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       9 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1  and further comprising a work surface provided above at least one of the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       10 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 9 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are horizontally disposed, and the work surface at least partially spans the two laundry appliances.  
   
   
       11 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 10 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are horizontally disposed, and the work surface spans at least one of the first and second laundry appliances and at least one of the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       12 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 1 , wherein the first and second laundry appliances are adjacent to each other, and the first and second vertical modules are located on opposite sides of the adjacent laundry appliances.  
   
   
       13 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 12 , wherein a height of at least one of the first and second vertical modules is about the same as a height of at least one of the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       14 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 13  and further comprising a horizontal module vertically arranged with at least one of the first and second vertical modules and at least one of the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       15 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 13  and further comprising a work surface provided above at least one of the first and second vertical modules and at least one of the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       16 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 12 , wherein heights of the first and second vertical modules are each greater than a height of at least one of the laundry appliances.  
   
   
       17 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 16  and further comprising a horizontal module vertically arranged with the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       18 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 17 , wherein a combined height of the horizontal module and one of the first and second laundry appliances equals a height of at least one of the vertical modules.  
   
   
       19 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 16  and further comprising a work surface provided above at least one of the first and second laundry appliances.  
   
   
       20 . A modular laundry system comprising: 
 a washing machine;    a dryer;    a first vertical module configured to be horizontally arranged relative to the washing machine and the dryer; and    a second vertical module configured to be horizontally arranged relative to the washing machine and the dryer and to the first vertical module.    
   
   
       21 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20 , wherein the washing machine and the dryer are configured to be horizontally arranged relative to each other.  
   
   
       22 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20 , wherein the washing machine and the dryer are configured to be vertically arranged relative to each other.  
   
   
       23 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20  and further comprising a horizontal module configured to be vertically arranged with at least one of the washing machine and the dryer.  
   
   
       24 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 23 , wherein the horizontal module is further configured to be vertically arranged with at least one of the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       25 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20  and further comprising a horizontal module configured to be vertically arranged with at least one of the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       26 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20  and further comprising a work surface configured to span at least one of the washing machine and the dryer.  
   
   
       27 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 26 , wherein the work surface is further configured to span at least one of the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       28 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20  and further comprising a work surface configured to span at least one of the first and second vertical modules.  
   
   
       29 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20 , wherein a height of at least one of the first and second vertical modules is about the same as a height of at least one of the washing machine and the dryer.  
   
   
       30 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20 , wherein heights of the first and second vertical modules are each greater than a height of at least one of the washing machine and the dryer.  
   
   
       31 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 30 , wherein a height of at least one of the vertical modules is about the same as a combined height of a horizontal module and one of the washing machine and the dryer.  
   
   
       32 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 20  and further comprising a work surface configured to extend across at least one of the first vertical module, the second vertical module, the washing machine, and the dryer.  
   
   
       33 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 32 , wherein the work surface is configured to be removably mounted to the at least one of the first vertical module, the second vertical module, the washing machine, and the dryer.  
   
   
       34 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 32 , wherein the work surface comprises opposing sides with each side configured for performing an associated function.  
   
   
       35 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 32 , wherein the work surface comprises a non-skid surface.  
   
   
       36 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 32 , wherein the work surface comprises an ironing surface.  
   
   
       37 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 32 , wherein the work surface comprises a hygienic material.  
   
   
       38 . The modular laundry system according to  claim 32 , where in the work surface comprises a hanging bar.
