Abstract

An apparatus and method for delivering a plurality of medication includes providing first and second medicament on a medicament pack in separate containers for preventing either medicament from interfering with the stability of the other. In accordance with the method, the medicaments are preferably delivered in a single inhalation.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system in which two or more different medicament formulations are delivered in a single inspired breath wherein the delivery system is comprised of:
a dry powder inhalator for providing control of medicament introduction into a patient's inspired air stream; and a medicament packaging system comprising at least one dose each of two or more different medicament formulations.

2 . A dry powder medicament inhalator system of claim 1 , wherein the medicament package consists of a single dose each of two or more different medicament formulations on a single blister card.

3 . A dry powder medicament inhalator system of claim 1 , wherein the medicament package consists of two or more medicaments, at least one of the medicaments being disposed in blisters disposed in a circular pattern.

4 . A dry powder medicament inhalator system of claim 3 , wherein the medicament comprises two medicaments, each being disposed in blisters arranged in a circular pattern.

5 . A dry powder medicament inhalator system of claim 4 , wherein the blisters are arranged in concentric circles.

6 . A dry powder medicament inhalator system of claim 1 in which the individual blisters of different medications comprising a dosing position are exposed for inhalation by piercing each of the individual blisters.

       7 - 40 . (canceled)

41 . A dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system comprising:
an inhalation blister pack, the blister pack comprising a first blister containing a first medicine and a second blister containing a second medicine different from the first medicine; and a dry powder inhalator configured for receiving the inhalation blister pack and for delivering the first medicine and the second medicine to a patient.

42 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 41 , wherein the inhalator comprises a first inflow channel disposed in communication with the first blister and a second inflow channel disposed in communication with the second blister.

43 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 42 , wherein the first inflow channel and second inflow channel are connected to an inhalation channel.

44 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 43 , wherein the inhalation channel is connected to a mouthpiece.

45 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 43 , wherein the first medicament and second medicament are sequentially dosed to the patient via the inhalation channel.

46 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 43 , further comprising a flap disposed at the end of the second inflow channel and configured for inhibiting airflow through the second inflow channel.

47 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 46 , wherein the flap is configured to open after a period of airflow through the inhalation channel and thereby allow flow through the second inflow channel.

48 . A dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system comprising:
an inhalation blister pack, the blister pack comprising a first blister containing a first medicine and a second blister containing a second medicine different from the first medicine; and a lancet mechanism comprising at least one lancet, the lancet mechanism configured for piercing the first blister and the second blister.

49 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 48 , wherein the lancet mechanism pierces the first blister and the second blister with a single lancet.

50 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 48 , wherein the lancet mechanism pierces the first blister and the second blister sequentially.

51 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 50 , wherein the lancet mechanism pierces the first blister and second blister with a single movement.

52 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 48 , further comprising a first inflow channel and a second inflow channel, and wherein the first blister is disposed in the first inflow channel and the second blister is disposed in the second in flow channel.

53 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 52 , wherein the first inflow channel and second inflow channel are connected to an inhalation channel.

54 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 48 , wherein the second blister is disposed on top of the first blister.

55 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 54 , wherein the lancet mechanism pierces the first blister and second blister in a single operation.

56 . A dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system comprising:
a blister pack, the blister pack having a first medicine and a second medicine contained therein, wherein the first medicine is contained separately from the second medicine; and a lancet mechanism configured for dispensing the first medicine and the second medicine.

57 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 56 , wherein the first medicine is stored in a first blister and the second medicine is stored in a second blister.

58 . The dry powder medicament inhalator delivery system of claim 56 , wherein the blister pack comprises a blister having a first compartment containing the first medicine and a second compartment containing the second medicine.
