Abstract

There is provided, in accordance with the principles of the present invention, a glove having a textured surface or textured foam coating produced by embedding a layer of discrete particles, such as a salt, into a previously formed liquid layer, gelling or curing the layer and dissolving the discrete particles to leave a textured or textured foamed surface.

1 . A glove, comprising: 
 a latex layer having a surface; and    from 5 to 9 cavities in a square millimeter area of the latex surface, wherein the cavities have a cross-section measuring in a range of from about 300 μm to about 625 μm.    
   
   
       2 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein at least 52% of the cavities present in the area measure at least 350 μm.  
   
   
       3 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein at least 45% of the cavities present in the area measure at least 375 μm.  
   
   
       4 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein at least 36% of the cavities present in the area measure at least 400 μm.  
   
   
       5 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein at least 9% of the cavities present in the area measure at least 500 μm.  
   
   
       6 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein at least 1% of the cavities present in the area measure at least 600 μm.  
   
   
       7 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein there are 9 cavities in the area.  
   
   
       8 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein there are 8 to 9 cavities in the area.  
   
   
       9 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein there are 7 to 9 cavities in the area.  
   
   
       10 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein there are 6 to 9 cavities in the area.  
   
   
       11 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the cavities occupy at least about 80% of the area.  
   
   
       12 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , which, when worn, requires an immediate grip force of about 3.2 kg or less to vertically lift a 1.9 kg weight having a stainless steel strip portion covered with grease and hydraulic oil.  
   
   
       13 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , which, when worn, requires an immediate grip force of about 4.5 kg or less to vertically lift a 2.7 kg weight having a stainless steel strip portion covered with grease and hydraulic oil.  
   
   
       14 . The glove as claimed in  claim 1 , which, when worn, requires an immediate grip force of about 6.8 kg or less to vertically lift a 3.5 kg weight having a stainless steel strip portion covered with grease and hydraulic oil.  
   
   
       15 . A glove, comprising: 
 a latex layer having a surface; and    approximately 390 cavities in a 56.25 square millimeter area of the latex surface, wherein the cavities have a cross-section measuring in a range from about 300 μm to about 625 μm.    
   
   
       16 . A glove, comprising: 
 a latex layer; and    from 40 to 51 cavities along a 15.7 mm length in the latex layer, wherein the cavities have a cross-section measuring in the range of from about 300 μm to about 625 μm.    
   
   
       17 . The glove as claimed in  claim 16 , which, when worn, requires an immediate grip force of about 3.2 kg or less to vertically lift a 1.9 kg weight having a stainless steel strip portion covered with grease and hydraulic oil.  
   
   
       18 . The glove as claimed in  claim 16 , which, when worn, requires an immediate grip force of 4.5 kg or less to vertically lift a 2.7 kg weight having a stainless steel strip portion covered with grease and hydraulic oil.  
   
   
       19 . The glove as claimed in  claim 16 , which, when worn, requires an immediate grip force of 6.8 kg or less to vertically lift a 3.5 kg weight having a stainless steel strip portion covered with grease and hydraulic oil.
