Abstract
A mascara application system comprising, in combination; a reservoir for mascara containing one opening, a closure for said reservoir, said closure having an inner surface and an outer surface, a wand having a proximal end affixed to the inner surface of said closure and a distal end having rows of tufted bristles protruding there from; and contained in the reservoir, a mascara composition having at least one substantive film forming polymer and at least one vaporization agent present in an amount sufficient to cause the composition to dry in a period of time ranging from 1 second to five minutes after application to the lashes.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A mascara application system comprising, in combination;
a) a reservoir for mascara containing one opening, b) a closure for said reservoir, said closure having an inner surface and an outer surface, c) a wand having a proximal end affixed to the inner surface of said closure and a distal end having rows of tufted bristles protruding there from; and d) contained in the reservoir, a mascara composition in the water and oil emulsion form having at least one substantive film forming polymer solubilized or dispersed in either the aqueous or oil phase of the emulsion and at least one vaporization agent present in an amount sufficient to cause the composition to dry in a period of time ranging from 1 second to five minutes after application to the lashes.
2 . The system of claim 1 wherein the reservoir is a cylindrical tube.
3 . The system of claim 2 wherein the cylindrical tube is made of polyethylene or polypropylene.
4 . The system of claim 2 wherein the tube has a threaded neck.
5 . The system of claim 1 wherein the closure inner surface has threads that mate with the threaded neck on the tube.
6 . The system of claim 1 wherein the mascara composition is a water in oil emulsion.
7 . The system of claim 1 wherein the mascara composition is an oil in water emulsion.
8 . The system of claim 1 wherein at least one film forming polymer is solubilized or dispersed in the aqueous phase of the emulsion.
9 . The system of claim 1 wherein at least one film forming polymer is solubilized or dispersed in the oil phase of the emulsion.
10 . The system of claim 9 wherein the film forming polymer is a silicone resin, a copolymer of silicone and ethylenically unsaturated monomers or a polymer comprised of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
11 . The system of claim 10 wherein the vaporization agent comprises a silicone, hydrocarbon, or ester.
12 . The system of claim 11 wherein the vaporization agent comprises a volatile silicone, volatile paraffinic hydrocarbon, or mixtures thereof.
13 . The system of claim 1 wherein the water and oil emulsion mascara composition comprises at least one substantive polymer that is a silicone resin.
14 . The system of claim 1 wherein the water and oil emulsion mascara composition comprises at least one substantive polymer that is a copolymer of silicone and ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
15 . The system of claim 14 wherein the ethylenically unsaturated monomers are acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or their simple esters.
16 . A mascara application system comprising, in combination;
a) a reservoir for mascara containing one opening, b) a closure for said reservoir, said closure having an inner surface and an outer surface, c) a wand having a proximal end affixed to the inner surface of said closure and a distal end having rows of tufted bristles protruding there from; and d) contained in the reservoir, a mascara composition in the anhydrous form having at least one substantive film forming polymer solubilized or dispersed in a phase containing a vaporization agent present in an amount sufficient to cause the composition to dry in a period of time ranging from 1 second to five minutes after application to the lashes.
17 . The system of claim 16 wherein the vaporization agent comprises volatile silicone, volatile paraffinic hydrocarbons, or mixtures thereof.
18 . The system of claim 16 wherein the substantive polymer comprises a silicone resin.
19 . The system of claim 16 wherein the substantive polymer comprises a copolymer of silicone and one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers wherein the ethylenically unsaturated monomers are selected from acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or their simple C 1-6 alkyl esters.
20 . The system of claim 16 wherein the substantive polymer comprises a polyurethane.Cited by (0)
