Recording/reproducing device and recording/reproducing method

Abstract

A high-speed dubbing unit 10 for dubbing digital data from an optical disk 15 to a hard disk 16 at a high speed is connected via a public telephone line to a payment imposing unit 20. A control unit 13 is provided for generating in its basic data generator 13 B a basic data for imposing the payment from at least a data indicative of the user identification and a data indicative of the speed for recording the data read out from the optical disk 15 into the hard disk 16 and transmitting the basic data to the payment imposing unit 20. The payment imposing unit 20 performs the imposing of the payment according to the basic data received from the control unit 13 and transmits a data indicative of the completion of imposing the payment to the control unit 13. In response to the data indicative of the completion of the payment, the control unit 13 directs the high-speed dubbing unit 10 to start recording the data read out from the optical disk 15 into the hard disk 16.

         45 . A transmission/playback apparatus comprising: 
 a transmission/playback unit for reading out data from a first recording medium and transmitting the data to a second recording medium;    a control unit for generating basic data from at least user identification data and transmission speed data, transmitting the basic data, and directing the transmission/playback unit to start transmitting the data read out from the first recording medium to the second recording medium when transmission allowance data indicating transmission of the data is allowed is received; and    a transmission allowance determination unit for determining whether transmission of the data is allowed based on the basic data received from the control unit and transmitting transmission allowance data to the control unit indicating whether the transmission of the data is allowed.    
     
     
         46 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 45 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit has a key data generator for generating key data as the transmission allowance data.  
     
     
         47 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 46 , wherein the control unit determines whether the key data received from the transmission allowance determination unit is authentic.  
     
     
         48 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 47 , wherein the control unit determines whether the key data received from the transmission allowance determination unit is authentic by collating the key data with key lock data stored therein.  
     
     
         49 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 50 , wherein the control unit, when the key data is determined to be authentic, directs the transmission/playback unit to transmit the data read out from the first recording medium to the second recording medium in accordance with the transmission speed data.  
     
     
         50 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 46 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit cancels the determining operation and generates the key data when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is at a standard speed.  
     
     
         51 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 46 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit performs the determining operation and generates the key data when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is faster than a standard speed.  
     
     
         52 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 45 , further comprising: 
 a data storage unit for storing a plurality of data; and    an operating unit for supplying indicator data indicating data in the stored plurality of data to the control unit;    wherein the control unit transmits data indicated by the indicator data from the data storage unit to the first recording medium.    
     
     
         53 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 52 , wherein the data storage unit is connected via a communications line to the control unit.  
     
     
         54 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 45 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit is connected via a communications line to the control unit.  
     
     
         55 . A transmission/playback method of reading out data from a first recording medium and transmitting the data to a second recording medium using an apparatus, comprising the steps of: 
 generating basic data from at least user identification data and transmission speed data;    transmitting the basic data from the apparatus to a transmission allowance determination unit;    determining whether transmission of the data is allowed based on the basic data received by the transmission allowance determination unit and generating transmission allowance data indicating whether the transmission of the data is allowed;    transmitting the transmission allowance data from the transmission allowance determination unit to the apparatus; and    transmitting the data read out from the first recording medium to the second recording medium when transmission allowance data indicating transmission of the data is allowed is received by the apparatus.    
     
     
         56 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 55 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit generates key data as the transmission allowance data.  
     
     
         57 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 56 , wherein the key data received from the transmission allowance determination unit is authenticated by the apparatus.  
     
     
         58 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 57 , wherein the key data is determined as authentic by collating the key data with key lock data stored in the apparatus.  
     
     
         59 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 58 , wherein when the key data is determined to be authentic, the data read out from the first recording medium is transmitted to the second recording medium in accordance with the transmission speed data.  
     
     
         60 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 56 , wherein the determining operation is canceled and the key data is generated when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is at a standard speed.  
     
     
         61 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 56 , wherein the determining operation is performed and the key data is generated when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is faster than a standard speed.  
     
     
         62 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 55 , wherein data corresponding to indicator data supplied from an operating unit is read out from a data storage unit and transmitted to the first recording medium.  
     
     
         63 . A transmission/playback method comprising the steps of: 
 reading out data from amongst a plurality of data stored in a data storage unit and recording the data to a first recording medium in response to indicator data supplied from an operating unit;    generating basic data from at least user identification data and transmission speed data;    transmitting the basic data from an apparatus to a transmission allowance determination unit;    determining whether transmission of the data is allowed based on the basic data received by the transmission allowance determination unit and generating transmission allowance data indicating whether the transmission of the data is allowed;    transmitting the transmission allowance data from the transmission allowance determination unit to the apparatus; and    transmitting the data from the first recording medium to the second recording medium when transmission allowance data indicating transmission of the data is allowed is received by the apparatus.    
     
     
         64 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 63 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit generates key data as the transmission allowance data.  
     
     
         65 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 64 , wherein the key data received from the transmission allowance determination unit is authenticated by the apparatus.  
     
     
         66 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 65 , wherein the key data is determined as authentic by collating the key data with key lock data stored in the apparatus.  
     
     
         67 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 66 , wherein when the key data is determined to be authentic, the data read out from the first recording medium is transmitted to the second recording medium in accordance with the transmission speed data.  
     
     
         68 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 64 , wherein the determining operation is canceled and the key data is generated when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is at a standard speed.  
     
     
         69 . The transmission/playback method according to  claim 68 , wherein the determining operation is performed and the key data is generated when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is faster than a standard speed.  
     
     
         70 . A transmission/playback apparatus comprising: 
 a first unit for reading out data from a first recording medium;    a second unit for recording the data onto a second recording medium;    a control unit for generating basic data from at least user identification data and transmission speed data, transmitting the basic data, and directing the first unit to start transmitting the data read out from the first recording medium to the second unit for recording onto the second recording medium when transmission allowance data indicating transmission of the data is allowed is received; and    a transmission allowance determination unit for determining whether transmission of the data is allowed based on the basic data received from the control unit and transmitting transmission allowance data to the control unit indicating whether the transmission of the data is allowed.    
     
     
         71 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 70 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit has a key data generator for generating key data as the transmission allowance data.  
     
     
         72 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 71 , wherein the control unit determines whether the key data received from the transmission allowance determination unit is authentic.  
     
     
         73 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 72 , wherein the control unit determines whether the key data received from the transmission allowance determination unit is authentic by collating the key data with key lock data stored therein.  
     
     
         74 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 73 , wherein the control unit, when the key data is determined to be authentic, directs the first unit to transmit the data read out from the first recording medium to the second unit in accordance with the transmission speed data.  
     
     
         75 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 71 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit cancels the determining operation and generates the key data when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is at a standard speed.  
     
     
         76 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 71 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit performs the determining operation and generates the key data when the transmission speed data indicates transmission is faster than a standard speed.  
     
     
         77 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 70 , further comprising: 
 a data storage unit for storing a plurality of data; and    an operating unit for supplying indicator data indicating data in the stored plurality of data to the control unit;    wherein the control unit transmits data indicated by the indicator data from the data storage unit to the first recording medium.    
     
     
         78 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 77 , wherein the data storage unit is connected via a communications line to the control unit.  
     
     
         79 . The transmission/playback apparatus according to  claim 70 , wherein the transmission allowance determination unit is connected via a communications line to the control unit.
