Abstract

The present invention provides formulations which greatly improve the physical and chemical stability of pesticides such as insect growth regulators, in liquid feeds, and liquid feed supplements. The present invention prevents or reduces stratification in liquid feeds and liquid feed supplements.

1 . A method for controlling an insect on a cattle, said method comprising: 
 administering a stabilized liquid pesticide emulsion as a feed-through product to cattle; and    allowing said feed-through product to pass through said cattle into manure, wherein the pesticide is released into the manure thereby controlling said insect.    
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said stabilized pesticide emulsion comprises: 
 a) a pesticide optionally comprising a hydrophobic agent;    b) a surfactant; and    c) a uniformity-extending agent, wherein said stabilized liquid pesticide emulsion is designed for liquid feed.    
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said pesticide is an insect growth regulator (IGR).  
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein IGR is a member selected from the group consisting of methoprene, hydroprene, kinoprene, fenoxycarb, pyriproxifen, cyromazine, dimilin, novaluron, and mixtures thereof.  
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein said IGR is methoprene.  
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said pesticide is an adulticide.  
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein said adulticide is an organophosphate.  
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein said organophosphate is a member selected from the group consisting of tetrachlorvinphos.  
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein said adulticide is a neonicotinoid insecticide.  
   
   
       10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein said neonicotinoid insecticide is a member selected from the group consisting of imidacloprid, acetamiprid and thiomethoxam.  
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said hydrophobic solvent is a member selected from the group consisting of an oil and a fatty acid.  
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein said fatty acid is a member selected from the group consisting of a mono-glyceride, a di-glyceride, a tri-glyceride and mixtures thereof.  
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said surfactant is a member selected from the group of a nonionic surfactant, an ionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant.  
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein said nonionic surfactant is a member selected from the group consisting of polysorbate and polyethoxylated castor oil.  
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said uniformity-extending agent is a carbohydrate.  
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein said uniformity extending agent is a carbohydrate selected from the group consisting of a monosaccharide, a polysaccharide, a cyclodextrin, a saccharide, a starch, a carboxymethyl cellulose salt, an alginate, a methyl cellulose, an ethyl cellulose, a hydroxypropyl cellulose, sucrose, a starch glycolic acid salt, a molasses, lactose and dextrin.  
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein said carbohydrate is a water soluble saccharide.  
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein said uniformity-extending agent is molasses.  
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said emulsion further comprises a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol.  
   
   
       20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein said polyhydric alcohol is a member selected form the group consisting of glycerol, 1,3-butylene glycol and propylene glycol.  
   
   
       21 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein said monohydric alcohol is a member selected form the group consisting of a C 5  alcohol and a C 6  alcohol.  
   
   
       22 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said emulsion further comprises an antioxidant.  
   
   
       23 . A method for preparing a stabilized pesticide emulsion, said method comprising: 
 admixing water and a uniformity-extending agent to form an aqueous premix;    admixing a pesticide optionally comprising a hydrophobic agent with a surfactant to form an oil premix; and    adding said oil premix to said aqueous premix to form said stabilized liquid pesticide emulsion.    
   
   
       24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said pesticide is an IGR selected from the group consisting of methoprene, hydroprene, kinoprene, fenoxycarb, pyriproxifen, cyromazine, dimilin, novaluron and mixtures thereof.  
   
   
       25 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein said insect growth regulator is methoprene.  
   
   
       26 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said hydrophobic agent is a member selected from the group consisting of an oil and a fatty acid.  
   
   
       27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein said fatty acid is a member selected from the group consisting of a mono-glyceride, a di-glyceride, a tri-glyceride and mixtures thereof.  
   
   
       28 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said surfactant is a member selected from the group a nonionic surfactant, an ionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant.  
   
   
       29 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein said nonionic surfactant is a member selected from the group consisting of polysorbate and polyethoxylated castor oil.  
   
   
       30 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said uniformity extending agent is a carbohydrate.  
   
   
       31 . The method of  claim 30 , wherein said uniformity extending agent is a carbohydrate selected from the group consisting of a monosaccharide, a polysaccharide, a cyclodextrin, a starch, a carboxymethyl cellulose salt, an alginate, a methyl cellulose, an ethyl cellulose, a hydroxypropyl cellulose, sucrose, a starch glycolic acid salt, a molasses, lactose and dextrin.  
   
   
       32 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein said carbohydrate is a water soluble saccharide.  
   
   
       33 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein said uniformity-extending agent is molasses.  
   
   
       34 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein said emulsion further comprises a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol.  
   
   
       35 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein said polyhydric alcohol is a member selected form the group consisting of glycerol, 1,3-butylene glycol and propylene glycol.  
   
   
       36 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein said monohydric alcohol is a member selected form the group consisting of a C 5  alcohol and a C 6  alcohol.  
   
   
       37 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein said emulsion further comprises an antioxidant.  
   
   
       38 . The method of  claim 37 , wherein said antioxidant is selected from the group consisting of tocopherol, ascorbyl palmitate, propyl gallate, butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and combinations thereof.
