Abstract

A method of reducing nematode-fungal interaction in a plant by treating a propagation material thereof with a nematicidally effective amount of a nematicide, and a fungicidally effective amount of a fungicide before the material is planted or sown.

1 . An at least binary pesticide composition comprising as active ingredients: 
 (A) a nematicidally effective amount of at least one macrolide compound selected from abamectin, emamectin benzoate and spinosad; and    (B) a fungicidally effective amount of at least one fungicide selected from: 
 (B1) at least one phenylamide of the formula (III)  
                     
 wherein  
   R 1  is methyl; R 2  is in ortho position to the amino group and is methyl, ethyl or chlorine;    R 7  and R 8  independently are hydrogen or methyl; R′ is methyl; and Y is —OR 4  or —SR 4  in which R 4  is methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, sec. butyl or tert. butyl; and    enantiomers thereof; in free from or in salt form; 
 (B2) at least one phenylpyrrole of the formula (IV)  
                     
 wherein  
   X is hydrogen or CO—R 1 , wherein R 1  is C 1 -C 6 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen or C 1 -C 3 alkoxy; or is C 3 -C 6 alkenyl, C 3 -C 6 alkynyl, or C 1 -C 6 alkoxy which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen or C 1 -C 3 alkoxy; or is C 3 -C 6 alkenyloxy, or C 3 -C 6 cycloalkyl; in free from or in salt form; and 
 (B3) at least one strobilurin compound selected from azoxystrobin, dimoxystrobin, fluoxastrobin, kresoxim-methyl, metominostrobin, orysastrobin, picoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin and trifloxystrobin;  
   together with a suitable carrier therefor.    
   
   
       2 . A composition according to  claim 1  which contains (A) a nematicidally effective amount of abamectin.  
   
   
       3 . A composition according to  claim 2  which contains (B1) a fungicidally effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of metalaxyl; metalaxyl consisting of more than 70% by weight of the R-enantiomer; metalaxyl consisting of more than 85% by weight of the R-enantiomer; metalaxyl consisting of more than 92% by weight of the R-enantiomer; metalaxyl consisting of more than 97% by weight of the R-enantiomer; and mefenoxam (metalaxyl-m).  
   
   
       4 . A composition according to  claim 2  which contains (B2) a fungicidally effective amount of fludioxonil.  
   
   
       5 . A composition according to  claim 2  which contains (B3) a fungicidally effective amount of azoxystrobin.  
   
   
       6 . A composition according to  claim 1  which contains: 
 (A) a nematicidally effective amount of a abamectin; and    (B) a fungicidally effective amount of (B1) mefenoxam, (B2) fludioxonil and (B3) azoxystrobin.    
   
   
       7 . A composition according to  claim 6  wherein the ratio of active ingredients (A):(B1):(B2):(B3) is (100-400 g):(7-10 g):(2-5 g):(15-20 g) per 100 Kg of seed, preferably (100 g):(7.5 g):(2.5 g):(15 g) per 100 kg of seed  
   
   
       8 . A composition according to  claim 6  which further comprises a fungicidally effective amount of (C) a triazole, preferably (C1) myclobutanil.  
   
   
       9 . A composition according to  claim 8  which further comprises an insecticidally effective amount of (D) an insecticide, such as a neonicotinoid, preferably (D1) thiamethoxam.  
   
   
       10 . Pest-resistant plant propagation material comprising plant propagation material treated with a pesticidally effective amount of a pesticidal composition according to  claim 1 .  
   
   
       11 . A pest-resistant plant propagation material according to  claim 10  wherein said pesticidal composition contains (A) a nematicidally effective amount of abamectin.  
   
   
       12 . A pest-resistant plant propagation material according to  claim 11  wherein said pesticidal composition contains (B1) a fungicidally effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of metalaxyl; metalaxyl consisting of more than 70% by weight of the R-enantiomer; metalaxyl consisting of more than 85% by weight of the R-enantiomer; metalaxyl consisting of more than 92% by weight of the R-enantiomer; metalaxyl consisting of more than 97% by weight of the R-enantiomer; and mefenoxam.  
   
   
       13 . A pest-resistant plant propagation material according to  claim 11  wherein said pesticidal composition contains (B2) a fungicidally effective amount of fludioxonil.  
   
   
       14 . A pest-resistant plant propagation material according to  claim 11  wherein said pesticidal composition contains (B3) a fungicidally effective amount of azoxystrobin.  
   
   
       15 . A pest-resistant plant propagation material according to  claim 10  wherein said pesticidal composition contains: 
 (A) a nematicidally effective amount of a abamectin; and    (B) a fungicidally effective amount of (B1) mefenoxam, (B2) fludioxonil and (B3) azoxystrobin.    
   
   
       16 . A pest-resistant plant propagation material according to  claim 15  wherein the ratio of active ingredients (A):(B1):(B2):(B3) is (100-400 g):(7-10 g):(2-5 g):(15-20 g) per 100 Kg of seed, preferably (100 g):(7.5 g):(2.5 g):(15 g) per 100 kg of seed.  
   
   
       17 . A method of protecting plant propagation material against attack by nematodes and phytopathogenic fungi which comprises treating said plant propagation material with a pesticidally effective amount of a composition according to  claim 1 .  
   
   
       18 . A method according to  claim 17  wherein said composition further comprises a fungicidally effective amount of (C) a triazole, preferably (C1) myclobutanil.  
   
   
       19 . A method according to  claim 18  wherein said composition further comprises an insecticidally effective amount of (D) a neonicotinoid, preferably (D1) thiamethoxam.  
   
   
       20 . A method according to  claim 19  wherein said plant propagation material is a plant seed selected from cotton, tomatoes, peppers, melons, cantaloupes, squash and cucumber.  
   
   
       21 . A method of improving the stand establishment of a crop of plants which comprises treating plant propagation material of the said plant with a pesticidally effective amount of a composition according to  claim 1 .  
   
   
       22 . A method for controlling phytopathogenic fungi in a crop of plants which comprises treating plant propagation material of the said plant with a nematicidally effective amount of a macrolide compound, optionally in combination with a fungicidally effective amount of one or more fungicides.  
   
   
       23 . The method according to  claim 22 , wherein the fungi is a  Phythium  spp.,  Rhizoctonia  spp. or  Thielaviopsis  spp.  
   
   
       24 . A method of reducing nematode-fungal interaction in a plant by treating a propagation material thereof with a nematicidally effective amount of a nematicide, and a fungicidally effective amount of a fungicide before the material is planted or sown.
