Abstract

A data verification system is configured to verify machine-recognized data elements acquired during a machine-implemented data acquisition process. The system includes a data verification workstation, a image server, and a data entry server. The data verification workstation is configured to obtain document images from the image server, present portions of document images to an operator, wherein the document images include text, and receive input from the operator based on the text. The input includes data elements. The data verification workstation is also configured to acquire machine-recognized data elements from the data entry server. The machine-recognized data elements were acquired from the document image during a machine-implemented data acquisition process based on the text. The data verification workstation is also configured to compare the data elements received from the operator to the machine-recognized data elements and selectively prompt the operator to re-input the data elements based on the comparison.

1 . A data verification system configured to verify machine-recognized data elements acquired during a machine-implemented data acquisition process, the system comprising: 
 means for presenting portions of document images to an operator, wherein the document images include text;    means for receiving input from the operator based on the text, wherein the input comprises data elements;    means for comparing the data elements received from the operator to machine-recognized data elements acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process based on the text; and    means for selectively prompting the operator to re-input the data elements based on the comparison.    
   
   
       2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the means for presenting portions of document images to the operator includes means for selecting a portion based on stored coordinates acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       3 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising means for selectively presenting the machine-recognized data elements to the operator.  
   
   
       4 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the means for selectively presenting the machine-recognized data elements to the operator includes means for selectively presenting the machine-recognized data elements to the operator based on a match measure determined during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       5 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the means for presenting portions of document images to an operator includes means for color-coding the portions of the document image based on a match measure acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       6 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the document comprises a selection from a group of documents consisting of: 
 a warranty deed;    a quit claim deed;    a mortgage; and    a release.    
   
   
       7 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the data elements comprise selections from a group of data elements consisting of: 
 grantor name;    grantee name;    legal description; and    property address.    
   
   
       8 . A method of verifying machine-recognized data elements acquired during a machine-implemented data acquisition process, the method comprising: 
 presenting portions of document images to an operator, wherein the document images include text;    receiving input from the operator based on the text, wherein the input comprises data elements;    comparing the data elements received from the operator to machine-recognized data elements acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process based on the text; and    selectively prompting the operator to re-input the data elements based on the comparison.    
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein presenting portions of document images to the operator comprises selecting a portion based on stored coordinates acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       10 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising selectively presenting the machine-recognized data elements to the operator.

The method of  claim 10 , wherein selectively presenting the machine-recognized data elements to the operator comprises selectively presenting the machine-recognized data elements to the operator based on a match measure determined during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein presenting portions of document images to an operator comprises color-coding the portions of the document image based on a match measure acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the document comprises a selection from a group of documents consisting of: 
 a warranty deed;    a quit claim deed;    a mortgage; and    a release.    
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the data elements comprise selections from a group of data elements consisting of: 
 grantor name;    grantee name;    legal description; and    property address.    
   
   
       15 . A data verification system, configured to verify machine-recognized data elements acquired during a machine-implemented data acquisition process, the system comprising: 
 a data verification workstation;    a image server; and    a data entry server;    wherein the data verification workstation is configured to: 
 obtain document images from the image server;  
 present portions of document images to an operator, wherein the document images include text;  
 receive input from the operator based on the text, wherein the input comprises data elements;  
 acquire machine-recognized data elements from the data entry server, wherein the machine-recognized data elements were acquired from the document image during a machine-implemented data acquisition process based on the text;  
 compare the data elements received from the operator to the machine-recognized data elements; and  
 selectively prompt the operator to re-input the data elements based on the comparison.  
   
   
   
       16 . The data verification system of  claim 15 , wherein the data verification workstation is further configured to select a portion of a document image to present to the operator based on stored coordinates acquired during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       17 . The data verification system of  claim 15 , wherein the data verification workstation is further configured to selectively present the machine-recognized data elements to the operator.  
   
   
       18 . The data verification system of  claim 17 , wherein the data verification workstation is further configured to selectively present the machine-recognized data elements to the operator based on a match measure determined during the machine-implemented data acquisition process.  
   
   
       19 . The data verification system of  claim 15 , wherein the document comprises a selection from a group of documents consisting of: 
 a warranty deed;    a quit claim deed;    a mortgage; and    a release.    
   
   
       20 . The data verification system of  claim 15 , wherein the data elements comprise selections from a group of data elements consisting of: 
 grantor name;    grantee name;    legal description; and    property address.
