Abstract

A method for treating a drain for a device having a water flow system includes selectively transporting a first aqueous composition by a capillary action of a first wick from a first dispenser to a reservoir and selectively transporting a second aqueous composition by a capillary action of a second wick from a second dispenser to the reservoir. The first aqueous composition includes at least one acidic compound and the second aqueous composition includes at least one metal chlorite. The acidic compound is in molar excess of the metal chlorite. The reservoir is in fluid communication with the drain.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for treating a drain of a device having a water flow system, the method comprising:
 (a) selectively transporting a first aqueous composition comprising at least one acidic compound by a capillary action of a first wick from a first dispenser to a reservoir, wherein the reservoir is in fluid communication with the drain; and (b) selectively transporting a second aqueous composition comprising at least one metal chlorite by a capillary action of a second wick from a second dispenser to the reservoir; (c) wherein the acidic compound is in molar excess of the metal chlorite.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the reservoir has a vent.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the reservoir has an overflow outlet connected to a conduit, and wherein the conduit is in fluid communication with the drain.

4 . A method of treating head space in equipment having an automatic circulation system, the method comprising:
 (a) providing an acidic aqueous composition; and (b) selectively transporting an aqueous metal chlorite composition to the acidic aqueous composition by capillary action of a wick to produce chlorine dioxide gas; (c) wherein the chlorine dioxide gas is emitted to the head space.

5 . A method of treating a drain for a device having a water flow system, the method comprising:
 (a) reacting a first liquid chemical component and a second liquid chemical component in a reservoir to produce a liquid deliming and sanitizing composition; and (b) selectively transporting the liquid deliming and sanitizing composition from the reservoir to the drain by a capillary action of a wick by dripping or by siphoning of the liquid deliming composition.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the first liquid chemical component is provided to the reservoir from a first container through a capillary action of a first wick.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the second liquid chemical component is provided to the reservoir from a second container through a capillary action of a second wick.

8 . A process for providing a sanitizing gas, a sanitizing liquid, or both, the process comprising:
 (a) supplying a first chemical component to a reservoir; (b) supplying a second chemical component to the reservoir; (c) reacting the first and second chemical components in the reservoir to produce the sanitizing gas, the sanitizing liquid, or both; (b) wherein the first and second chemical components are in liquid form and at least one of the first and second chemical components is provided to the reservoir by a capillary action of a wick.
