Abstract

A method for controlling Listeria in floor drains wherein an aqueous solution composed of a chlorinated caustic material which is soft metal compatible is introduced into a drain where Listeria is present. In a preferred manner, the aqueous solution is introduced into the drain employing a hose end dispensing device having a foam producing nozzle. The resulting aqueous solution has a sufficient viscosity to remain in the drain for about 30 seconds to 10 minutes.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A dispenser containing a dilute foamable composition for controlling Listeria in drains comprising:
a container containing a cleaning agent comprising:
 a. a caustic cleaner
 b. a blend of surfactants
 c. a hypochlorite
 d. water; and
dispensing means operatively associated with the container to dispense the cleaning agent from the container when connected to a hose for delivering water to the dispensing means.

2 . The dispenser of claim 1 wherein the dispensing means includes an eductor.

3 . The dispenser of claim 1 wherein the dispensing means is vented.

4 . The dispenser of claim 1 wherein the dispensing means includes a foam producing nozzle.

5 . The dispenser of claim 1 wherein the cleaning agent includes silicates.

6 . A dispenser for controlling Listeria in drains comprising:
a container containing a dilute foamable cleaning agent capable of controlling Listeria; and dispensing means operatively associated with the container to dispense the cleaning agent from the container when connected to a hose for delivering water to the dispensing means.

7 . The dispenser of claim 6 wherein the dispensing means includes an eductor.

8 . The dispenser of claim 6 wherein the dispensing means is vented.

9 . The dispenser of claim 6 wherein the dispensing means includes a foam producing nozzle.

10 . The dispenser of claim 6 wherein the cleaning agent includes silicates.

11 . A dispenser for cleaning drains comprising:
a container containing a drain cleaning agent; and dispensing means including a hose end sprayer operatively associated with the container to dispense the cleaning agent from the container.

12 . The dispenser of claim 11 wherein the cleaning agent is a liquid.

13 . The dispenser of claim 12 wherein the dispensing means includes a nozzle.

14 . A method of controlling Listeria in drains employing the dispenser of claim 1 .

15 . A method of controlling Listeria in drains employing the dispenser of claim 6 .

16 . A method of cleaning drains employing the dispenser of claim 11.
