Extendable flag pole assembly

Abstract

An extendable flag pole assembly, including an angulated cylindrical flag pole holder adapted for the support of a flag pole, whereby the angulated cylindrical flag pole holder is attached to the uppermost portion of a moveable channel, and a galvanized handle is attached to the bottom portion. The moveable channel is attached to a stationary channel by two pivoting connector arms, which move to raise the moveable channel upwards towards a parallel position with the stationary channel. A lock plate is attached to the bottom portion of the stationary channel which corresponds to the bottom of the moveable channel to secure the two channels together in a parallel fashion.

1 . An extendable flag pole assembly comprising: 
 a flag pole holder;    a movable channel having a face, a back and two sidewalls, said movable channel including an upper region and a lower region, whereby the flag pole holder is attached to the upper portion of said movable channel, an opening arranged in each sidewall in the upper region, an opening arranged in each sidewall in the lower region;    a handle attached to the face of the movable channel in lower region of said movable channel for raising and lowering a flag;    a stationary channel having a front, a back and two sidewalls, said stationary channel including an upper and a lower region, two openings arranged in each sidewall in the stationary channel in the lower region; and,    two pivoting connector arms, each connector arm comprising two ends and including an opening substantially near each end for receiving a pin to couple the connector arm to one of the movable channel and the stationary channel.    
   
   
       2 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 1  further comprising a lock plate attached the moveable channel.  
   
   
       3 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of openings arranged near a top of the movable channel for receiving fasteners that secure the flag pole holder to the movable channel.  
   
   
       4 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of openings arranged near a bottom of the movable channel that receive fasteners to secure the handle to the movable channel.  
   
   
       5 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 1  further comprising a spring retainer that comprises a pair of ears that are biased towards one another and for receiving a stud mounted to the stationary channel such that the pair of ears exert frictional forces upon the stud to maintain the movable channel in a fixed contact with the stationary channel.  
   
   
       6 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 1  further comprising a lock plate arranged at a bottom of the stationary channel that locks the movable channel to the stationary channel wherein said lock plate comprises an opening for receiving a shackle of a lock.  
   
   
       7 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 1  wherein said stationary channel comprises a stud fastened to a front of the stationary channel for coupling the movable channel to the stationary channel to maintain the movable channel in a position.  
   
   
       8 . An extendable flag pole assembly comprising: 
 a fixed base having a front, a back and two sidewalls, said fixed base including an upper and a lower region, two openings arranged in each sidewall in the stationary channel in the lower region;    a pivoting base having a face, a back and two sidewalls, said pivoting base including an upper region and a lower region, whereby the flag pole holder is attached to the upper portion of said pivoting base, an opening arranged in each sidewall in the upper region, an opening arranged in each sidewall in the lower region;    a flag pole holder affixed the face of the pivoting base substantially near a top thereof;    a first pair of connector arms, each connector arm having two rounded ends, each end including an opening, one opening accepting a pin that fastens the connector arm to the fixed base, the other opening accepting a pin that fastens the connector arm to the pivoting base;    a second pair of connector arms, each connector arm having two rounded ends each end including an opening, one opening accepting a pin that fastens the connector arm to the fixed base, the other opening accepting a pin that fastens the connector arm to the pivoting base, said second pair of connector arms being arranged the fixed base and the pivoting base below the first pair of connector arms; and,    wherein said first and said second pair of connector arms are arranged such that as said pivoting base is raised, the connector arms maintain the pivoting base in a parallel relationship to the fixed base, and such that both pairs of connector arms are perpendicular to the fixed and pivoting bases when a midpoint is reached between an absolute minimum distance from a ground surface and an absolute maximum distance from the ground surface.    
   
   
       9 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 8  further comprising a lock plate attached the pivoting base.  
   
   
       10 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 8  further comprising a plurality of openings arranged near a top of the fixed base for receiving fasteners that secure the flag pole holder to the movable channel.  
   
   
       11 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 8  further comprising a plurality of openings arranged near a bottom of the pivoting base that receive fasteners to secure a handle to the movable channel.  
   
   
       12 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 8  further comprising a spring retainer mounted to said pivoting base, said spring retainer comprises a pair of ears that are biased towards one another and for receiving a stud mounted to the fixed base such that the pair of ears exert frictional forces upon the stud to maintain the pivoting base in a fixed contact with the fixed base.  
   
   
       13 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 8  further comprising a lock plate arranged at a bottom of the fixed base that locks the pivoting base to the fixed base wherein said lock plate comprises an opening for receiving a shackle of a lock.  
   
   
       14 . The extendable flag pole assembly of  claim 8  wherein said fixed base comprises a stud fastened to a front of the fixed base for coupling the pivoting base to the fixed base to maintain the pivoting base in a raised position.  
   
   
       15 . An extendable flag pole assembly comprising: 
 a means for securing said flag pole assembly to an exterior wall surface;    a means for holding a flag pole coupled to the means for securing said flag pole assembly to the exterior wall surface;    a means for pivoting said means for holding a flag pole relative to the means for securing said flag pole assembly; and,    a means for securing the means for holding a flag pole at a fixed distance from said means for securing said flag pole assembly.
