Abstract
Methods, devices, tools, instruments and systems for treating a patient to induce weight loss. In one method embodiment, a device, including an expandable member in a collapsed configuration, is passed through an opening in the skin of the patient, and into the abdominal cavity of the patient. At least a portion of the expandable member is anchored relative to at least one structure in the abdominal cavity, without piercing the stomach. The expandable member is expanded to an expanded configuration in a space in the abdominal cavity to perform at least one of: prevention of expansion of the stomach of the patient into the space; and compression of a portion of the stomach.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 112 . (canceled)
113 . An anchoring frame for anchoring a device to an internal structure in a patient's body, said frame comprising:
an elongated main body having proximal and distal ends; at least one channel running substantially over a length of said main body; a contact surface adapted to contact the internal structure in the patient's body; anchors positioned in said anchoring frame for being driven through said contact surface and into the internal structure; and a deployment driver slidable through at least one of said at least one channels, wherein sliding said deployment driver through said at least one channel drives said anchors through said contact surface.
114 . The anchoring frame of claim 113 , further comprising a lumen passing through at least a portion of said elongated body to configure said anchoring frame to be passed over a guidewire.
115 . The anchoring frame of claim 113 , wherein said elongated body is flexible.
116 . The anchoring frame of claim 113 , further comprising a cable or wire extending proximally from said deployment driver and proximally of the proximal end of said elongated main body.
117 . The anchoring frame of claim 113 , further comprising an interlock on a proximal end portion of said elongated main body, said interlock comprising resiliently deflectable teeth configured to lock with an engagement member receivable in said interlock.
