Abstract
Eyewear having an enhanced fit which may be used for safety, sports, and the like. The eyewear may provide features which permit enhanced airflow and an enhanced fit to a user's face. Such features may include greater adjustability to provide greater comfort. Eyewear including an RFID tag which is activated to send or receive transmissions when the eyewear is unfolded and/or positioned in a position to be worn by a user.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . Eyewear adapted to protect a user's eyes, the eyewear comprising:
at least one lens, the lens having at least one first portion positioned adjacent a user's nose and at least one second portion which is positioned adjacent an outer edge of a user's eye when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face, the lens positioned to extend a distance from a user's eye and the lens configured to cover a user's eye from the distance; and a pair of ear pieces, each ear piece having a first end which is pivotably coupled to the lens adjacent at least one second portion of the lens, the ear pieces configured to hold the lens against at least a portion of a user's face, wherein the ear pieces are configured to permit the lens to pivot upward and downward on a user's face when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face.
2 . The eyewear of claim 1 , wherein the at least one lens further comprises a common lens which extends over both of a user's eyes when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face.
3 . The eyewear of claim 1 , wherein the lens includes an upper portion configured to conform to a user's brow and a lower portion configured to conform to a user's cheek.
4 . The eyewear of claim 3 , wherein the upper portion of the lens is positioned against a user's brow when the lens is pivoted upward, and the lower portion of the lens is positioned against a user's cheek when the lens is pivoted downward.
5 . The eyewear of claim 4 , wherein when the lens pivotably moves upward or downward, each ear piece remains in its previous position.
6 . The eyewear of claim 1 , wherein when the lens pivots in one direction, each ear piece moves in an opposite direction.
7 . The eyewear of claim 6 , wherein when the upper portion of the lens is positioned against a user's brow, the first end of each ear piece pivots downward, and wherein when the lower portion of the lens is positioned against a user's cheek, the first end of each ear piece pivots upward.
8 . The eyewear of claim 1 , wherein each ear piece has resiliency in at least a portion of the ear piece such that each ear piece is pivotably moveable to a folded position adjacent the lens.
9 . The eyewear of claim 1 , wherein the lens and each ear piece pivot on an axis.
10 . The eyewear of claim 9 , wherein the axis is a generally horizontal axis when a user is in an upright position while wearing the eyewear.
11 . Eyewear adapted to protect a user's eyes, the eyewear comprising:
at least one lens, the lens having at least one first portion positioned adjacent a user's nose and at least one second portion which is positioned adjacent an outer edge of a user's eye when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face, the lens positioned to extend a distance from a user's eye and the lens configured to cover a user's eye from the distance; and a pair of ear pieces, each ear piece having a first end which is configured to be slideably and releasably coupled to an upper edge of the lens and a second end which is formed to be positioned adjacent a user's ear when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face such that each ear piece is releasably coupled to the lens and configured to be slideably moved along the upper edge of the lens to permit the ear pieces to move closer or farther away from a user's head such that the combination of the lens and each ear piece cooperate to provide a custom fit to a user's head.
12 . The eyewear of claim 11 , wherein the at least one lens further comprises a common lens which extends over both of a user's eyes when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face.
13 . The eyewear of claim 12 , wherein the lens is curved and generally conforms to a curve of a user's forehead.
14 . The eyewear of claim 11 , wherein the nose piece includes a pair of holders configured to be positioned against each side of a user's nose, and wherein the holders are each moveable to provide adjustment and a custom fit of the holders to a user's nose.
15 . The eyewear of claim 14 , wherein a clamp is coupled to a first end of each ear piece and the clamp permits each ear piece to be slideably moved and releasably coupled to the lens.
16 . The eyewear of claim 15 , wherein the lens includes a ridge positioned adjacent the upper edge.
17 . The eyewear of claim 16 , wherein the clamp is positioned over the ridge to slideably couple each ear piece to the lens.
18 . The eyewear of claim 11 , wherein each ear piece is movable in a direction inward toward a user's nose and in a direction outward, away from a user's nose.
19 . The eyewear of claim 18 , wherein each ear piece is moved such that each ear piece fits against a side of a user's head to provide a custom fit of the eyewear to at least a portion of a circumference of a user's head.
20 . Eyewear adapted to protect a user's eyes, the eyewear comprising:
a pair of lenses, each lens of the pair having a first portion and a second portion, and when the pair of lenses are positioned on a user's face, each lens extending a distance from a user's eye and configured to cover a user's eye from the distance, the first portion of each lens positioned adjacent a user's nose and the second portion of each lens positioned adjacent an outer edge of a user's eye, each lens having an outer edge; and a frame including a brow piece positioned between and a pair of spaced-apart ear pieces configured to hold the lenses against at least a portion of a user's head, the frame including a nose piece which is configured to extend over at least a portion of a user's nose, each lens movably coupled to the nose piece such that each lens individually pivots away from the brow piece of the frame such that each lens is configured to be positioned such that it is only in contact with the nose piece.
21 . The eyewear of claim 20 , wherein the pair of lenses are moveably coupled to the nose piece on an axis and each lens is separately pivotable on the axis.
22 . The eyewear of claim 20 , wherein the pair of lenses are moveably coupled in a cantilevered position to the nose piece, and wherein each is lens movable away from the frame to permit air flow and venting around a substantial portion of the lens.
23 . The eyewear of claim 20 , wherein each lens includes a lens frame positioned about at least a portion of the outer edge of each lens.
24 . The eyewear of claim 23 , wherein at least a portion of each ear piece has resiliency to permit each ear piece to fit against a user's head.
25 . Eyewear adapted to protect a user's eyes, the eyewear comprising:
at least one lens, the lens having at least one first portion positioned adjacent a user's nose and at least one second portion positioned adjacent an outer edge of a user's eye when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face, the lens positioned to extend a distance from a user's eye and the lens configured to cover a user's eye from the distance, the lens including an upper edge and a lower edge; and a frame coupled to at least a portion of one edge of the lens, the frame configured to extend about a circumference of a user's head and the frame including a tension controller configured to adjust the tension of the frame against a user's face and head.
26 . The eyewear of claim 25 , wherein the lens is a one piece lens which extends over both eyes of a user.
27 . The eyewear of claim 25 , wherein the frame is positioned along only at least a portion of the lower edge of the lens.
28 . The eyewear of claim 25 , wherein the tension controller is positioned on the frame and is not removable from the frame.
29 . The eyewear of claim 28 , wherein the tension controller is moveable around a substantial portion of the frame.
30 . The eyewear of claim 28 , wherein at least a portion of the upper edge of the lens moves away from a user's forehead when the frame is adjusted firmly against a user's face and head to provide venting and airflow to a portion of a user's face.
31 . Eyewear adapted to protect a user's eyes, the eyewear comprising:
a pair of first lenses, each of the first lenses having at least one first portion positioned adjacent a user's nose and at least one second portion positioned adjacent an outer edge of a user's eye when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face, the first lenses positioned to extend a distance from a user's eyes and the first lenses configured to cover a user's eyes from the distance, the first lenses each having an outer edge; a frame including a brow portion positioned between a pair of ear pieces, at least a portion of the brow portion coupled to the first lenses along the outer edge of the first lenses and the ear pieces configured to cooperate with the brow portion to hold the lenses in a position on a user's face; and a pair of secondlenses, the pair of second lenses slideably coupled to the frame and slideably moveable to a position next to the first lenses.
32 . The eyewear of claim 31 , wherein the frame is configured to have at least first grooves and second grooves.
33 . The eyewear of claim 32 , wherein the first lenses are positioned in the first grooves.
34 . The eyewear of claim 32 , wherein the second lenses are positioned in the second grooves.
35 . The eyewear of claim 31 , wherein at least one of the first lenses is positioned adjacent to one of the second lenses.
36 . The eyewear of claim 35 , wherein at least one of the first lenses is slidably movable relative to one of the second lenses, such that the one second lens overlaps the one first lens.
37 . The eyewear of claim 31 , wherein each ear piece includes a first portion attached to brow portion of the frame and a second portion comprising a slidable stem which is configured to be positioned adjacent a user's ear.
38 . The eyewear of claim 37 , wherein the slidable stem is configured to be positioned above a user's ear and the slidable stem is formed to provide a custom fit and personalization of the eyewear.
39 . Eyewear adapted to protect a user's eyes, the eyewear comprising:
at least one lens, the lens having at least one first portion positioned adjacent a user's nose and at least one second portion which is positioned adjacent an outer edge of a user's eye when the eyewear is positioned on a user's face, the lens positioned to extend a distance from a user's eye and the lens configured to cover a user's eye from the distance; and a pair of ear pieces, at least one of the ear piece having a movable connector provided therewith, the one ear piece having an RFID tag, the RFID tag connected to one contact point provided on a portion of the ear piece positioned adjacent the connector and another contact point positioned on the eyewear such that when the eyewear is opened for use and the one ear piece is moved into a position to be donned by a user, the one contact point contacts the other contact point to provide a circuit which permits the RFID tag to send or receive a transmission from an RFID tag reader/scanner.
40 . The eyewear of claim 39 , wherein the one lens is a pair of lenses.
41 . The eyewear of claim 40 , wherein the pair of lenses has an outer edge having a frame coupled to at least a portion of the outer edge.
42 . The eyewear of claim 41 , wherein the one ear piece is movably coupled to the frame via the connector.
43 . The eyewear of claim 42 , wherein the other contact point is positioned adjacent the connector on the frame.
44 . The eyewear of claim 39 , wherein the pair of lenses has an outer edge having a frame coupled to at least a portion of the outer edge.
45 . The eyewear of claim 44 , wherein the one ear piece is movably coupled to the frame via the connector.
46 . The eyewear of claim 45 , wherein the other contact point is positioned adjacent the connector on the frame.
47 . The eyewear of claim 39 , wherein the one ear piece is movably coupled to the lens via the connector.
48 . The eyewear of claim 47 , wherein the other contact point is positioned adjacent the connector on the lens.
49 . The eyewear of claim 39 , wherein the RFID tag is an active tag.
50 . The eyewear of claim 39 , wherein the RFID tag is a passive tag.
51 . The eyewear of claim 39 , wherein the circuit provides an antennae to permit the RFID tag to send or receive transmissions from an RFID tag reader/scanner.
