Eyelash extensions and method for applying eyelash extensions

Abstract

Eyelash extensions and a method for applying the same are described. The eyelash extensions comprise a first filament having both a proximal end and a distal portion with a distal end. Each of the proximal end and distal end are tapered and of a size such that the proximal end can be attached with a single eyelash. In some aspects, the filament can be branched to form a branched eyelash extension. The eyelash extensions come in multiple sizes, shapes, and colors to provide the user with increased aesthetics and comfort.

1 . An eyelash extension for applying to an eyelash, comprising a first filament having both a proximal end and a distal portion with a first distal end, each of the proximal end and distal end being tapered and of a size such that the proximal end can be attached with a single eyelash. 
   
   
       2 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the filament has a thickness and the thickness is between approximately 0.01 and 0.40 millimeters. 
   
   
       3 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 2 , wherein the proximal end points in a first direction and the distal end points in a second direction such that an angle exists between the first direction and the second direction, and where the filament is flared with the flare corresponding to the angle between the first direction and the second direction, the flare being less than or equal to 180 degrees. 
   
   
       4 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 3 , wherein the filament has a length and the length is between approximately 2 millimeters and 18 millimeters. 
   
   
       5 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 4 , wherein the distal portion is branched to further include a plurality of branches, each branch having a distal end, where the filament with the proximal end and plurality of branches forms a branched eyelash extension. 
   
   
       6 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 5 , wherein a branch angle exists between each branch of the branched eyelash extension, and where the branch angle is less than or equal to 180 degrees. 
   
   
       7 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein each of the branches has a length such that the length of at least one branch is different than the length of at least one other branch. 
   
   
       8 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 7 , wherein each of the branches has a thickness such that the thickness of each branch is approximately the same. 
   
   
       9 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 8 , wherein each of the proximal end and the distal ends are tapered to a point. 
   
   
       10 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 9 , wherein each of the plurality of branches are colored such that the color of at least one branch is different than the color of at least one other branch. 
   
   
       11 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein the distal portion includes an aligned branch in approximate axial alignment with the proximal end. 
   
   
       12 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 11 , wherein the distal portion includes a number of branches on a first side of the aligned branch that is different than a number of branches on a second side of the aligned branch. 
   
   
       13 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein each of the branches has a thickness such that the thickness of at least one branch is different than the thickness of at least one other branch. 
   
   
       14 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein each branch in the plurality of branches has a flare corresponding to the angle between the first direction and the second direction, and wherein the flare on one branch is different than the flare on at least one other branch. 
   
   
       15 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein the filament has a length and the proximal end includes a tapered portion, and where the tapered portion is tapered such that the tapered portion is less than one quarter of the length of the filament. 
   
   
       16 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein the proximal end is tapered to a blunt tip. 
   
   
       17 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 6 , wherein each of the branches has a length such that the length of each branch is approximately the same. 
   
   
       18 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the distal portion is branched to further include a plurality of branches, each branch having a distal end, where the filament with the proximal end and plurality of branches forms a branched eyelash extension. 
   
   
       19 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein a branch angle exists between each branch of the branched eyelash extension, and where the branch angle is less than or equal to 180 degrees. 
   
   
       20 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein each of the branches has a length such that the length of at least one branch is different than the length of at least one other branch. 
   
   
       21 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein each of the branches has a thickness such that the thickness of each branch is approximately the same. 
   
   
       22 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein each of the plurality of branches are colored such that the color of at least one branch is different than the color of at least one other branch. 
   
   
       23 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein the distal portion includes an aligned branch in approximate axial alignment with the proximal end. 
   
   
       24 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 23 , wherein the distal portion includes a number of branches on a first side of the aligned branch that is different than a number of branches on a second side of the aligned branch. 
   
   
       25 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein each of the branches has a thickness such that the thickness of at least one branch is different than the thickness of at least one other branch. 
   
   
       26 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein the proximal end points in a first direction and the distal ends of each branch point in other directions such that an angle exists between the first direction and each of the other directions, and where the filament is flared with a flare corresponding to the angle between the first direction and each of the other directions, and wherein the flare on one branch is different than the flare on at least one other branch. 
   
   
       27 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 18 , wherein each of the branches has a length such that the length of each branch is approximately the same. 
   
   
       28 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the filament has a length and the proximal end includes a tapered portion, and where the tapered portion is tapered such that the tapered portion is less than one quarter of the length of the filament. 
   
   
       29 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the proximal end is tapered to a blunt tip. 
   
   
       30 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the filament has a length and the length is between approximately 2 millimeters and 18 millimeters. 
   
   
       31 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein each of the proximal end and the distal end are tapered to a point. 
   
   
       32 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the proximal end points in a first direction and the distal end points in a second direction such that an angle exists between the first direction and the second direction, and where the filament is flared with the flare corresponding to the angle between the first direction and the second direction, the flare being less than or equal to 180 degrees. 
   
   
       33 . An eyelash extension as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the distal portion is branched to further include a plurality of branches, each branch having a distal end, where the first filament with the proximal end and plurality of branches forms a first branched eyelash extension, and further comprising a second filament having both a proximal end and a distal portion with a plurality of branches to form a second branched eyelash extension, each branch having a distal end and where each of the proximal end and distal ends are tapered and of a size such that the proximal end of the second filament can be attached with a single eyelash, and where the proximal ends of each filament point in a first direction and the distal ends of each filament point in other directions such that an angle exists between the first direction and each of the other directions, and where the filament is flared with a flare corresponding to the angle between the first direction and each of the other directions, and wherein a branch angle exists between each branch of each of the filaments, and wherein the flare and angle between the branches of the second filament is a mirror image of those of the first filament, whereby the first filament is formed to be attached with a first eye and the second filament is formed to be attached with a second eye.
