Abstract

A compound of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates and hydrolysable esters thereof wherein: p is 0 or 1; q is 0 or 1; R 1 and R 2 are independently H or C 1-3 alkyl; R 3 and R 4 are independently H, C 1-6 alkyl, —OC 1-6 alkyl, halogen, OH, C 2-6 alkenyl or CF 3 ; R 5 is H, or C 1-6 alkyl, wherein said C 1-6 alkyl is optionally substituted by one or more halogens, —COphenyl, —OC 1-6 alkyl, phenyl, morpholino, or C 2-6 alkenyl; R 6 is C 1-6 alkyl, halogen, —OCH 2 phenyl, morpholino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, thiophenyl, furanyl, pyridinyl, —OC 2-6 alkenyl, or phenyl, wherein said phenyl is optionally substituted by C 1-3 alkyl.

1 . A compound of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates and hydrolysable esters thereof  
     
       
         
         
             
             
         
       
       wherein:  
       p is 0 or 1;  
       q is 0 or 1;  
       R 1  and R 2  are independently H or C 1-3  alkyl;  
       R 3  and R 4  are independently H, C 1-6  alkyl, —OC 1-6  alkyl, halogen, OH, C 2-6  alkenyl or CF 3 ;  
       R 5  is H, or C 1-6  alkyl, wherein said C 1-6  alkyl is optionally substituted by one or more halogens, —C(O)phenyl, —OC 1-6  alkyl, phenyl, morpholino, or C 2-6  alkenyl;  
       R 6  is C 1-6  alkyl, halogen, —OCH 2  phenyl, morpholino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, thiophenyl, furanyl, pyridinyl, —OC 2-6  alkenyl, or phenyl, wherein said phenyl is optionally substituted by C 1-3  alkyl.  
     
   
   
       2 . A compound according to  claim 1  which is a selective hPPAR alpha/gamma agonist.  
   
   
       3 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein p is 0.  
   
   
       4 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein q is 0.  
   
   
       5 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein p and q are 0.  
   
   
       6 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 1  and R 2  are independently C 1-3  alkyl.  
   
   
       7 . A compound according to  claim 6  wherein R 1  and R 2  are both C 1-3  alkyl.  
   
   
       8 . A compound according to  claim 7  wherein R 1  and R 2  are both methyl.  
   
   
       9 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 4  is H.  
   
   
       10 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 3  is —C 1-3  alkyl or —OC 1-3  alkyl  
   
   
       11 . A compound according to  claim 10  wherein R 3  is methyl or —OCH 3 .  
   
   
       12 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 3  is ortho to the depicted oxygen.  
   
   
       13 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 3  is methyl.  
   
   
       14 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 6  is C 1-6  alkyl.  
   
   
       15 . A compound according to  claim 1  wherein R 6  is in the para position to the depicted alkylene.

A method according to  claim 26  wherein the hPPAR mediated disease or condition is one or more of dyslipidemia, syndrome X, heart failure, hypercholesteremia, cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes mellitus, type I diabetes, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, obesity, anorexia bulimia and anorexia nervosa.
