Abstract

A shelving system can include adjustable drying racks. The shelving system, which can be in the configuration of a shower caddy or shower organizer, can have a hinged clamp mechanism configured to secure the drying racks to a central support member hanging from a shower head or to another vertical support.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A shelving system comprising
at least one elongated support member configured to be positionable in an orientation such that it is elongated in a generally vertical direction, the at least one elongated support member further comprising at least first and second channels extending along lateral edges of the support member; at least one member configured to support an article for drying; a connecting mechanism configured to releasably connect the at least one member to the elongated support member, the connecting mechanism further comprising first and second engaging members, each of the first and second engaging members being pivotally mounted relative to the at least one elongated support member and comprising a control portion and an engaging portion, each of the engaging portions being configured to extend into one of the first and second channels, the connecting mechanism further comprising a biasing device configured to bias the first and second engaging members toward a position in which the engaging portions extend into the first and second vertical channels; wherein at least one of the biasing member and the engaging portions being configured to engage the first and second vertical channels with sufficient force to support the at least one member with at least one wet article supported by the at least one member.

       2 . A drying rack comprising:
at least one member configured to support an article for drying; a connecting mechanism configured to releasably connect the at least one member to an elongated vertical support member having first and second elongated vertical channels, the connecting mechanism further comprising first and second engaging members, each of the first and second engaging members being pivotally mounted relative to the at least one member and comprising a control portion and an engaging portion, each of the engaging portions being configured to extend into one of the first and second elongated vertical channels, the connecting mechanism further comprising a biasing device configured to bias the first and second engaging members toward a position in which the engaging portions extend into the first and second vertical channels; wherein at least one of the biasing member and the engaging portions are configured to engage the first and second vertical channels with sufficient force to support the at least one member with at least one wet article supported by the at least one member.

3 . The drying rack of claim 2 , wherein the at least one member comprises a rod having a first and connected to the connecting mechanism.

4 . The drying rack of claim 2 , wherein the at least one member comprises a rod having a first end comprising an enlargement configured to prevent an article from slipping off of the at least one member.

5 . The drying rack of claim 2 , wherein the first and second engaging members are configured to allow a user to move the first and second engaging members toward an open position by pinching ends of the first and second engaging members with one hand.

6 . The drying rack of claim 2 , wherein the first and second engaging members further comprise control portions disposed at opposite ends of the first and second engaging members from the engaging portions.

7 . The drying rack of claim 6 , the control portions being configured to be graspable by a human hand.

8 . The drying rack of claim 2 , wherein the biasing member is a torsional spring.
